Harmony
Hate, or intense loathing, was all that had transpired form the beginning. Contrasting elements could never come together in any semblance of harmony. Nobody saw it coming; they themselves didn't see it coming. Somewhere the lines blurred and reality was tossed into a tumultuous mess as two of the most infamous enemies cane together, not with hate, but some twisted type of love.
The love was different to see at first. The sneers, taunts and fights continued as normal. One had to look in the participants' eyes to notice the changed emotions. No long was there an intense competing jealousy. It was poor Neville who witnessed the changed relationship between the rivals when he chanced to round a corner to find the unnamed leader of Gryffindor pressed against the wall by the self-named Prince of Slytherin. He made to throw the latter off his friend until he saw their lips crushed together, moving in a furious duel. Hands gripped robes in a completely different passion. Slowly Neville backed up and ran to the Great Hall a different route. When asked why he looked as if he'd seen a ghost (Seamus couldn't resist the bad joke) as Harry walked in behind Malfoy, Neville violently shook his head and kept his mouth shut.
The next day fared no better for poor Neville as he had yet another run-in with the secret enemies turned lovers. This time he was on his way to Herbology but decided to stop in the library to find a book quickly. Neville made his way toward the back when he heard a soft moan. He could spot the voice anywhere and saw Harry leaning heavily against a bookcase. Draco stood over him whispering harshly. Neville figured now they were back to being normal enemies and what he saw the day before had really just been a horrible nightmare. It wasn't until he heard the telltale pull of a zipper being put back together and a secret kiss shared, that Neville felt his stomach drop sickeningly. As calmly as was possible for him, Neville beelined for the exit. There would be no way he'd concentrate properly for the rest of the day now.
Luckily for Neville, he encountered no more incidents the rest of the week. Harry hadn't been late to any meal or class, and had either been practicing Quidditch or doing homework during his off period, so Neville reasoned all was in perfect harmony again. Or so he thought until Draco Malfoy strode hotly down the aisle between the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw tables, straight for Harry. Again, the color drained from Neville's face and he felt that sickening drop in his stomach. This did not go unnoticed by Hermione as her head swiveled along with most everyone else's to see the latest confrontation between Draco and Harry.
"What the hell Potter?" Draco roared.
"I'm sorry, Malfoy, can I help you?" Harry remained seated. Those seated close the Harry saw his small smile.
"You heard me," Draco said through gritted teeth, "What the bloody hell was that for?" Now Harry stood and faced the Slytherin.
"You know why," he replied calmly. Draco shoved him. A few gasps echoed and some teachers stood to intervene. It was rare the two resorted to physical altercations.
"You know bloody well you git…" and Draco shoved him, but Harry caught his arm this time,"that..." Draco never finished his sentence as they both stepped forward and crushed their lips together. Everyone but Neville sat rooted to their spots. Neville, who'd seen more than enough to know his nightmare notion was null and void, fainted.
The two boys, Slytherin and Gryffindor, were known to fight in perfect harmony. They had their fighting down to an art. Now they loved in complete harmony, for hate is love but with opposite passions.
