They sit there and it's all wrong, because the king is with the sorceress and the queen with the knight and nothing is as it should be. They laugh and they play like children, because they think the world is true. They wear colours as if it is a festival and they run around and around in circles until they finally fall into the water. And the sorceress laughs and dances around them, her golden locks shining.
They sit by the pool and this time their all wearing black, and the sorceress is missing and the king is crying and the knight and queen stare with dead eyes and say nothing at all. The pool is empty and the sky is dark and the world seems like it's over. They sit by the pool and this time there's nothing to laugh about and finally the king drowns his sorrows in drink and the queen and knight part ways. And the image of the sorceress' still figure and her stained hair are branded on all their eyes.
They don't go near the pool anymore because it's stained now. And the chairs lay empty and they're silent now. And the king banishes the queen and the knight no longer does good deeds. The king wears the jester's suit, while underneath its really black amour. The queen stops crying and learns to fight and mixes with the peasants. But none of them are fooling anyone, and all the while they hear the sorceress laughing in their ears.
They stopped fighting now, because all they have is each other. But the castle is almost completely crumbled and it's really because they have nothing left to fight for. And now the queen is hard and the king is broken and the knight doesn't see anymore. But now the queen steals the king's suit, and sees the black armor underneath and holds him as he cries. And the knight wakes up to a world that's all wrong. And they let go of the sorceress, but they never let go, not really.
