Fire Mixed With Rain
"Asuna-san?"
Asuna looked behind her to Negi, who had his staff clutched close to him, under the building. Asuna was sitting out in the rain, just watching.
"Asuna-san… you should come inside… you might catch a cold."
Asuna laughed as she turned back to the sky. "You don't get colds from the cold, Negi, it just lowers your immune system."
"But my sister always told me…"
"That's because, everyone says that to a little kid, it makes them put on warm clothes before going out because everyone hates getting a cold."
"But…"
"Come sit with me Negi." Negi looked up to find Asuna there, she was turned to him again, smiling, and her hair was planted to her face even though it was up in its normal fashion.
Negi smiled slightly before running over to Asuna and sitting down next to her. Asuna looked back up to the rain after making sure Negi was sitting down.
"I love the rain."
Negi looked over to Asuna, a bit confused, that was just out of the blue. "Why?"
She smiled, her eyelids drooping down more, down to half of her eyes. "Because… it burns out fire."
"But… that's not a very big reason to like it… I mean… normal water burns out fire if you dump it on it."
Asuna laughed again. "No… that's not what I meant."
"But… fire is fire…"
"Not always, Negi."
"No, Asuna, you're wrong! Fire is always fire!"
"You really need to start thinking more about other things than sticking your head in text books all the time."
"Hey! Asuna-san!"
"I like rain… because… it erases my memories."
Negi looked at her, confused again.
"It burns out the fire in my mind. My memories. When I look at the rain, I forget all I ever did to anyone… and I forget that I ever hurt people…"
"Um… Asuna-san…?"
She looked higher to the sky, letting the cold water hit her heated face. "In the rain, I can't see them die anymore… and I can't hear their helpless screams…"
"In the rain… I don't hurt anymore."
Negi was definitely confused.
"In the rain… they don't anymore either…"
"No one hurts."
"Asuna-san…? What do you mean…?"
The rain started to get lighter and lighter before it cleared all together, the sun came out and Asuna looked down to the puddles on the ground.
"And when the sun comes out… the fire is started up again, because of the heat… but then I always look to the rainbow… that reminds me… that… that… I have people to be the rain for me."
"Who would that be Asuna-san?"
Asuna laughed again, as she patted Negi's head, she stopped laughing and smiled at him. "The people who have always been there for me."
"Yea but who are those people?" he asked.
She shook her head still smiling. "I'll tell you one thing… the one who's most important to me… came not too long ago…"
And before she left, Asuna kissed Negi's forehead.
End
I found that very cheesy but… I got bored… so I had to do something!
