Title: Is This the End?

Author: Pinkcat4569

Rating: K/G

Spoilers: No

Description: Jess informs Becker that she's moved on.

Disclaimer: I don't own Primeval or the characters.

Author's Note: 333 words.

Written because my obsession with B/J has been waning. Well, I mean, it's been harder to get inspiration to write. I'll always adore them. Now, if there was more Primeval on the way, I wouldn't be worried. There isn't, probably, so I'm warning you that you may suddenly stop getting Becker/Jess stories from Pinkcat4569, if anyone cares. (I added this because there is just so much fabulous Primeval fic out there.)

I may start writing Avengers fiction (The movie), specifically Black Widow/ Hawkeye. They're awfully cute, too. So, if there are no more stories coming with B/J as the theme, thank you for all your support, kind thoughts, and reading and reviewing.

Who knows, I may get sudden inspiration and write another 100 plus B/J stories, I just don't know.

Is This the End?

"People change," said Jess. "Their interests grow and mature."

Becker blinked. "What are you saying?"

"I'm saying that during this job, I've had to face some wild things, and I've...moved on."

"I don't believe I'm hearing this. I...you can't be serious."

"I am."

"So...it's over?"

Jess shrugged. "Not over, just...cooled."

Becker slumped. His face looked rattled and white. "I can't believe you're saying this. You really don't feel the same?"

"I'm sorry. I don't want to hurt you. I'll always have fondness in my heart, but, I'm sorry, yes, I really don't feel the same."

She stood, watching him. She had never seen him look so dejected.

"Becker, are you going to be OK?"

He sighed. "I don't know, Jess. I've gotten used to...your smile, the way you giggle. I guess I thought we'd go on like we had been forever."

"Nothing is forever Becker," she said.

He nodded. "I guess not." He sighed. "As long as you're happy."

She smiled. "Thank you. I am."

"OK," he said, standing up and looking at her. "I can live with it."

She kissed his cheek. "Good. I was hoping you'd say that." She then plopped into her chair, and began monitoring the ADD as she snacked.

Becker shook his head. "I just can't believe you've moved on from chocolate to salty caramel chews."

Jess smiled. "It could be just a fad, or phase," she said, "But in case it's not..."

"I know. I'll start buying the new stuff for you," he said, putting the chocolate bars he'd brought her back in his pocket.

As he walked away, she asked, "What are you going to do with those?"

Becker got an evil smirk, but turned so she didn't see it. He shrugged. "Give them to someone, I guess. Lots of women love chocolate, right?"

He smiled, and left.

Five seconds later he heard the rapid movement of heels in his direction, accompanied by her voice, saying, "On second thought, Becker..."

The End

Actually, that was fun to write, so maybe my 'goodbye' warning was too soon! P. S. "Salt Caramel' is apparently a favorite thing of celebrity Chef Nigella Lawon, and a new dessert trend for 2012.
