Hoji made a small sound in his sleep as he curled a little further into him. When Ban craned his neck to get a better look at his partner's face, none of the stress of the earlier battle was there.
Ban felt himself grin at what had been, not too long ago, impossible to imagine. He wasn't sure when Hoji's perpetual irritation with him had changed into friendship and then into something else entirely, but it had, and that was enough for Ban.
He grinned one last time before snuggling up against Hoji, closing his eyes. "Who knows, maybe you'll even call me partner one day."
Ban felt Hoji stir. "Mm. Not a chance."
