Kami only takes the best…
A Zabuza & Haku one shot based on the poem 'He only Takes the Best'.
Zabuza lay on the ground, mortally wounded but soley focused on the young man by his side – Haku.
"You were always at my side, the least I can do is to be beside you at the end. I know it cannot be, but I wish I could go to where you have gone. How I wish I could join you there, Haku."
As his thoughts started to grow misty and faintly away from him, he remembered on long forgotten poem and recited it quiety as he died:
'Haku:
Kami saw you getting tired,
There is no cure for you or me...
But He will wrap you in His Arms,
And whisper "Come to Me".
So much you've suffered in silence,
but your spirit did'nt bend -
You faced your pain with courage,
Until the very end.
You fought so hard to stay
and your fight was not in vain -
Kami has you in His loving Home
And freed you from all pain.
A golden heart stopped beating...
... but now at last it's at rest.
Kami broke all men's hearts just to prove
that He only takes the best.'
The tall muscular man with pale skin, short spiky black hair, brown eyes, and small eyebrows looked at the gentle face of the young man who gave his life for him and died knowing that though he lived as the 'Demon of the Hidden Mist', at last he had become a human being.
