Disclaimer: Unfortunately, I don't own InuYasha, Rumiko Takahashi does. And I don't own the song "Why" either because, if I did, I'd have enough money to buy InuYasha from Takahashi-sama. Anyway, the song belongs to Jason Aldean.

"Jerk!"

"Wench!"

"SIT!"

CRASH!

Stomp, stomp, stomp.

Flash forward to about 2 am

'Geez, why does she always get so have to get so mad at me?!' thought InuYasha as he sat in his favorite spot, a tree branch. 'Then again,' he reflected guiltily, 'why do I always have to make her mad? I guess I should probably apologize, but I'm just no good at that kind of stuff. And she's in her own time right now so I doubt she really cares at the moment, not when she's with her precious school and exams... Oh well. Better get it over with.' He jumped down and ran to the well.

When InuYasha climbed out on the other side, he silently made his way into Kagome's room. As soon as he stepped into her room he smelled tears mingled with her sweet scent and a wave of guilt washed over him so he hastily began rummaging through her stuff. He was pretty sure she had something that would help him apologize, but he breathed a sigh of relief when he found what he was looking for. This would definitely make saying he was sorry easier. He quickly wrote a note for Kagome and set it and his tool of apology in the light cast by the lamp he had turned on, then went to stand where he could see what went on but Kagome couldn't see him.

A few minutes later, Kagome stirred and opened her eyes. She didn't know what had woken her up, but then her eyes fell on the lamp sitting on her desk. 'I'm sure I turned that off before I went to bed.' She got up to turn it off and noticed a note laying in its light. She picked it up and read: Kagome, please listen to #9 on this CD. -InuYasha. She looked down and, sure enough, there was a CD. She sat at her desk and played the song InuYasha had specified in his note.

It's 3 AM and I finally say
I'm sorry for acting that way
I didn't really mean to make you cry
Oh baby, sometimes I wonder why

Does it always have to come down
To you leaving
Before I'll say 'I love you'
Why do I always use the words
That cut the deepest
When I know how much it hurts you
Oh baby why, do I do that to you

I know I'd never let you walk awaySo why do I push you 'til you break
And why are you always on the verge of good-bye
Before I'll show you how I really feel inside

Why does it always have to come down
To you leaving
Before I'll say 'I love you'
Why do I always use the words
That cut the deepest
When I know how much it hurts you
Oh baby why, do I do that to you

Why do I always use the words that cut the deepest
When I know how much it hurts you
Oh baby why, do I do that to you
Why do I do that to you

As the song ended, tears ran down Kagome's cheeks. She jumped when she felt someone's hand touch her face but then, realizing who it was, she got up and pressed her face to his chest.

InuYasha put his arms around her and stroked her hair then said in a voice so gentle Kagome almost didn't recognize it as his, "I didn't mean to make you cry again."

When Kagome could finally speak, she replied, "It's okay, InuYasha. These are good tears." Then she paused and moved her head so she could see his face. Hesitantly, she continued, "Um, did you really mean it? The song, I mean?"

InuYasha looked down into her eyes. "Of course I did, Kagome. And I do. Um, love you, that is."

"Really?" Hope brightened Kagome's eyes.

"Would I do this if I didn't?" he replied with a gleam of mischief (and love) in his eyes.

Then he leaned down and kissed her so lovingly that she never doubted him again. Well, at least until the next time they got into a fight at any rate.
