Title: Decoy Dream
Summary: She's been chasing a memory of him all this time
She's running so fast, so fast and for so long she's out of breath and just might pass out but you know what? She's gonna keep on running because—
Maybe this time she'll be able to reach him.
And Sakura is full of hope and determination (and desperation, so much desperation) and it's all so overwhelming because finally—
He's back.
She spots him, leaning on the wall near the gates his raven hair glistening in the faint light of the vanilla twilight sky. But he's still so far away from her, he's still so handsome, and aloof, and just so—
Sasuke.
And she hopes that it's real and that it's not some kind of henge jutsu or cruel joke because Sakura wants this to be real so much. She really hopes it's not some kind of dream or her mind playing tricks on her. Because all this time she's been chasing a memory and—
she doesn't want to anymore.
He looks up at the sound of her feet slapping at the pavement. Suddenly she stops once she figures that she's close enough (but it's never close enough is it?) and they stare at each other for a while. Sakura's brilliant emerald green staring into Sasuke's onyx black-and sometimes red-eyes. She open closes open closes her mouth but the words won't come out and it probably would have been comical if it weren't all so sad and Sakura's lips move but the words don't follow and—
He's finally here.
And it's not an illusion and it's actually real and oh, God, She—her and Naruto—they've been waiting for so long. They've been waiting for this moment for years. She's been waiting for this moment for years. And now it's finally arrived.
She sinks to her knees and covers her mouth with her hand to stifle the cry but the tears still slide down her cheeks and—
Oh God, she's missed him so much and now he's finally come back to them—to her
He walks to her (a first for him, it's usually the other way around but this time the tables have turned, hm?) and stands over her and watches with his black-and sometimes red- eyes.
"Hn. How annoying." And the sound of his voice just makes her cry a little more.
Sakura feels his arms go around her in a kind of awkward (but nice, it's really nice) embrace.
She almost smiles.
fin.
