The Flood

This is but one of the legends that is written in the winds...

There was once a golden land. A prosperous and fertile land, known by its inhabitants as "The Land of the Goddesses". Known by outsiders as "The Kingdom of Hyrule". In this land, which was ruled by a kind and beautiful princess named Zelda, dwelt many races who lived in harmony.

In the fields, there were the humans and Hylians. The latter of which had mystic powers bestowed on them by the Three Golden Goddesses: Din, Farore and Nayru. In the forests lived the Kokiri, Faeries and Skull Kids. On the mountaintops lived the Gorons, a rock eating race whose dexterous fingers made blades and bombs. And finally, in The Lake Hylia, were the Zoras. A proud race of fish-like people ruled by Queen Ruto.

All of the land was glorious and peaceful, until one day, a man of great evil stole into the castle and took the golden power that Princess Zelda had kept hidden.

Assuming a shadowy state of pure evil magic, he plunged the land into chaos. Despair and darkness ruled. Monsters stalked the streets. He wished to rule Hyrule. He threatened Zelda by unleashing a great poison into their rivers. Anyone who drank became ill. The Zoras were close to extinction.

But the Princess held strong.

And the evil continued to spread. Death Mountain (Home of the Gorons) became an impenetrable citadel. The sky darkened. The air was full of ash spewed out from the volcanoes. The land nearly perished. The peoples of Hyrule were giving up.

But from the sky descended a heavenly warrior. Wielding the sword of Evil's Bane, he sealed the dark one in a realm of shadow. A realm of eternal torture. A realm of his own undoing.

This hero, the hero of time retrieved the golden power and entrusted it to Zelda, who shattered it into eight pieces which were spread across Hyrule. And the herov anished on the wind.

The peoples of the Golden Land worshipped the "Hero of time".

And for many years, peace reigned again. Until one day, the Evil one broke from his seal and plundered the world once again. Whole cities were burned to the ground. Families were torn apart.

And then, the Monstrous Helmaroc King. The Dark one's servant, a giant bird. It destroyed Hyrule castle. The guard fled. The guardians of the royal family; the Sheikah, were the last line of defence. The people of Hyrule prayed to the Three Golden Goddesses for The Hero.

But none came.

In a last, desperate attempt, the Princess used the Golden Power to bring down the heavens.

Water swept through the streets. The evil was purged from the world.

But at a terrible cost...
