A/N

I'd originally intended to post this around Christmas, but I figure that New Year's Day is the next best thing.

Starlight, Star Bright

The star, it sits atop a tree,

Shining bright for all to see.

Indifferent to those below,

Those dealing with so much woe.

Plumbers, goombas, koopas too,

What are these heroes going to do?

Outnumbered, no mushrooms here,

Or fire flowers, oh dear oh dear.

The snow comes down, the star reflects,

Does this count as my neglect?

Decides it's not, it will just shine.

In winter season so sublime

But a plumber jumps, and the star yells,

Oh no, it thinks, oh bloody hell.

The music starts, the cronies scatter,

The star it listens to their chatter.

"Here we go," and other tripe,

Upon this chilly Christmas night.

When over, back up the tree,

And free from this damn misery.

Power-ups don't get their thanks,

Walked upon like wooden planks.

New Year's will change, the star declares,

Least it will, once tree's repaired.
