Magic Moments
In a small, humble little house in the lower town, Gwen giggled to herself as she lay in bed, looking up at her ceiling in the darkness that was only lifted by the dim moonlight that seemed to peek shyly through the thin cracks in her window shutters.
She couldn't sleep, flitting from mortification to tender amusement and back again as the memory of the day's events played over in her head. Her body curled up tight each time she recalled the terrible flatulence that had made itself noisily and embarrassingly known in front of everyone and Arthur of all people!
Arthur. A smile lit her face in the gloom and temporarily banished the shame. He had been so pathetically adorable when she found him slumped against his bed, donkey ears pricking up above his head. Even his braying had been sweet as he tried to explain his predicament to her and the urge had overcome her to reach down and scratch his ears.
Redness returned to burn her cheeks. Oh sweet goodness! She had scratched Arthur's ears! A lowly maidservant had scratched the Crown Prince of Camelot's ears – cute, fuzzy, soft ears but they belonged to him all the same!
Gwen remembered that he had seemed to enjoy it, though, as his eyes had half-closed in pleasure and what could be described as a gentle whinny escaped him before he realised what he was doing or what he was allowing someone to do to him.
It had been such a relief when they had later spoken and they quickly agreed to pretend that the very peculiar events that had occurred between them had never happened.
Still, Gwen couldn't help it as she laughed once more before half-heartedly berating herself for such foolishness and closed her eyes in an effort to go to sleep.
Had anyone cared to look in Arthur's room at the same time, they would have been more than a little amused at the sight of a sleeping prince whinnying softly, a contented grin on his face as he rubbed the side of his head against a pillow that he was hugging.
