Sutures

Dean sits down somewhere with room to manoeuvre. He threads the needle on the second attempt as the end has already started to fray. He expertly gathers the edges together, rolling up a sleeve to get it out of the way.

The first stitch he doubles to add strength – there's no room for half measures with their lifestyle. A few stitches later and the needle slips and stabs one of his fingers.

The end is knotted and he cuts the thread with his teeth.

"Pass me another shirt, Sam," he says as he throws the repaired garment to one side.
