George Cooper was ecstatic. Finally, Alanna had come to call on him at House Azik. Before that moment, George had resigned himself to the fact that Jon had proposed, and Alanna had surely said yes. He had been in a state of moodiness and depression, positive that his only love was forever lost to him. So when Rispah called him down and George saw Alanna standing uncertainly in the courtyard, he had to fight from crying with relief. He just hadn't known how desperate he was.
I was so high I did not recognize
The fire burning in her eyes
The chaos that controlled my mind

Alanna seemed subdued when she first arrived, and George made sure she had everything she needed and wanted. Everything had to be perfect.
One night, Alanna's third at House Azik, Rispah caught George alone.
"George, are you okay?" she questioned, doubt in her eyes.
He laughed. "Am I okay? Rispah, I haven't been happier in months!"
She sighed. "That's why I asked. You're letting too much rest on Alanna, lad."

After several weeks, George was almost out of ideas to keep Alanna happy. He could recognize the longing in her eyes, how her mind wandered away from Port Caynn. George was scared she would leave him again, and he did everything in his power to keep her with him.
I tried my best to feed her appetite
Keep her coming every night
So hard to keep her satisfied
Kept playing love like it was just a game
Pretending to feel the same
Then turn around and leave again
George looked regretfully at the Lioness as she packed her things, and he readied their horses. He would ride to Corus to deal with Claw, and she would return to the desert. There was nothing he could do; no amount of pleading or bribery would bring Alanna back to Court.
