A PLEASANT SURPRISE

It was a pleasant morning but not as agreeable as Ino's mood. The sun is up. It's a hot summer day but she feel cold. It was their 7th anniversary but these past few days, Shikamaru had always been too occupied to talk to her. She decided to call him from work.
"Hey! Happy Anniversary!" Ino said not quite sure if she's happy.
"Happy Anniversary to you too…" Shikamaru replied.
"I love you"
"Yes I know, everyone does, I always hear them from my friends especially the girls"
"Realy? Am I only a friend to you?"
"No, you're my girlfriend and I know you love me ever since we've been together"
"Oh, really?"
"So what do you want to do later?"
"How about a movie?"
"Yeah! And maybe dinner afterwards…"
"Okay, so see you at around 7:30?"
"Okay, I'll pick you up…"
"Bye…"
"Wait!"
"Yes?"
"I love you"
"I love you too…"
"Hey, my boss is kinda lookin' at me, I gotta go…"
"Okay, bye then…"
Shikamaru hanged-up. Ino became ecstatic suddeny, - it's as if her heart melted as she had heard these three dulcet words – "I love you." She looked back at the time when Shikamaru asked her to be his girlfriend. The perfect view of the city, the building lights, the gust of wind, the feeling of Shika's hand holding hers and the sweet murmur – "Would you be my girlfriend?" She remembered it perfectly well.
A little later, she heard Shika's car arriving. She opened the door and flung to his arms. She kissed him.
"Happy Anniversary!" Ino said.
"Same to you my dear," Shika replied after giving her a bouquet of roses. "So, shall we go now?"
"Umm…okay. But let me get my bag first."
Their first stop was a movie. Ino knew that Shikamaru don't really like what they're watching. Chick-flicks don't interest him that much. This made her feel important. After all these years, Shikamaru's love hadn't change.
They had their dinner afterwards. After eating, they got up and ready to leave. At the car, Shikamaru asked her something.
"Can I blindfold you?"
"Why?"
"I have a surprise for you"
"What kind of surprise?"
"A big one"
"But only if you promise to hold my hand and never let go while were driving…"
"I promise…"
"Okay, blindfold me…"
The car came to a stop.
"Wait, I have to walk you to a place." Shikamaru said.
He guided her out of the car. Slowly they walk and Ino can feel the grass as if she was barefooted. Shikamaru kissed her lightly on the lips before removing her blindfold. The moment that piece of cloth was removed from her eyes, tears came rolling down her cheeks. Shikamaru knelt in front of her opening a small velvet box. It's glowing. The perfect view of the city, the building lights, the gust of wind, the feeling of Shika's hand holding hers and the sweet murmur – "Will you marry me?" Tears rolled down her cheeks faster. She embraced him ever so tightly and kissed his lips.
"Is that a yes?" Shikamaru asked.
"Yes!"
"The moment you called a while ago, I'm not at the office. I'm busy planning this. I'm sorry for the past few days, I don't get a chance of talking to you because of this…"
"It's okay, I understand."
"I love you, that'll never change." Shikamaru said right before kissing her passionately. A new memory had been to Ino's mind – a pleasant surprise.
