Lover's Note Apologising

Summary: They had one night together, filled with pasionate love-making, finally consumating a relationship they'd been dancing in and out of for years. And now she was gone.

He reached out to the other side of the bed and felt nothing. Opening his eyes, Jess found that Rory was in fact gone. She had been in his arms when he fell asleep, but, now she was gone.

(Her lips against his skin, fingernails digging into his back as he pulled her dress over her head.)

Taking a deep breathe to clear his mind, he noticed the folded paper propped against her pillow. His name was written on the outside, Rory's neat script flowing over the page as he turned it up the right way to view her goodbye.

Dear Jess,

I never expected to be writing another one of these letters, but, here we are.

That night was... well, you were there, you know what it was. I'm sorry that I didn't say goodbye, it's just, I didn't know how to act once you were awake.

Making love to you was nothing like I thought it would be. It was so much more, and I didn't think I could face the reality.

(Hot skin against skin, fingertips burning a path for lips to follow)

I love you.

I should have told you that last night when we were... but, you know me, sometimes I just can't get the right words out.

(Her body pressed against his, lips fuzed together)

I'm sorry, so sorry. I woke up and everything was just completly ruined. I wish I could have just stayed in your arms forever.

But we both know our history, and I guess that sort of prepared me for this.

I had to go.

I had to do it, there was no other way. I couldn't say goodbye and have you watch me leave. The thought of that was just too hard to bare.

And no, I couldn't stay either. Not now, this isn't the right time.

You are an amazing man, you need to know that. Every expectation I had of you has been exceeded by miles and if nothing else I need you to remember this;

I love you very much and I always will.

Goodbye Jess, I hope that one day... Well, you know.

(She locked her arms around him and moaned his name as she reached her peak and he tangled his fingers in her hair)

He folded the paper again and closed his eyes.

Rory was gone.

They had one night together, filled with pasionate love-making, finally consumating a relationship they'd been dancing in and out of for years and now she was gone.

He didn't expect for it to ever happen again. They'd probably never even see each other after this. But they would have the memory of that night for the rest of their lives, whatever else happened.
