Everyone saw the sad young boy that walked down the path towards home. And yet they acted as though there was no one there, that there wasn't a small quivering shadow cast behind him.
"How cruel is the golden rule?
When the lives we lived are only golden-plated
and I knew that the lights of the city were too heavy for me
though I carried karats for everyone to see "
He'd gone through his whole life never knowing a friend. People always turned away from him. And their children not, knowing what he was, looked away and turned up their noises to him.
"And I saw God cry in the reflection of my enemies
and all the lovers with no time for me
and all of the mothers raise their babies
to stay away from me "
No one offered a friendly hand, nor a hug to him. Instead they cursed his existence, only without him they might not be here. And as he saw how so many treated him he began to think the way they felt towards him.
"Tongues on the sockets of electric dreams
where the sewage of youth drowned the spark of my teens
And I knew that the lights of the city were too heavy for me (too heavy for me)
Though I carried karats for everyone to see (everyone to see)"
With all the hateful stares he went to his small dingy apartment, into his room and grabbed the closest kunai
"And I saw God cry in the reflection of my enemies
And all the lovers with no time for me
And all of the mothers raise their babies
to stay away from me"
His decision was final. No one would miss him. With the kunai he took his own life
"And pray they don't grow up to be... "
