Remus Lupin was a patient man. One had to be when your roommates were James Potter and Sirius Black. And today, it looked as though fate had kindly preoccupied both boys.
Unfortunately, fate was not kind to a certain werewolf.
Just as Remus had finished a difficult Potions essay, a rather snowy Sirius Black decided to stand over his shoulder, dripping half melted snow everywhere, including his essay.
"So, whatcha doing?" Sirius asked, oblivious to the fact that he had ruined his friends essay.
Remus scowled, "I was doing my homework, until you dripped snow all over it."
"Is that a problem?"
Remus glared at him, "It's ruined!" He half yelled, "Now I have to do it all over again!"
Sirius sat down beside him, shaking his head and tutting, "All work and no play makes for a very tense Moony. You know what you need?"
"No, but I'm sure you're going to tell me."
Sirius grinned, "You need to take a break. Might I suggest a relaxing stroll by the lake?"
Remus raised his eyebrows at Sirius, "And how do I know James isn't waiting outside to throw snowballs at me the minute he sees me?"
"Do you honestly believe we would do something like that?"
"Yes."
Sirius looked slightly taken aback by Remus's answer, the boy really was too smart for his own good. He quickly regained his composure, "I, Mr Padfoot, promise Mr Moony that Mr Prongs is not waiting outside to ambush him, but rather someone of a more greasy nature." He said in a business tone.
Remus sat back, "He's either going to end up in detention, or in the hospital wing, or both."
"True, which is why we must aid him!"
With that, Sirius had pulled Remus to his feet and dragged him out of the common room with such strength Remus could have sworn he felt it lengthen, but he had a more important matter on his mind.
"Sirius, no! I need to do my essay!"
Remus Lupin was a patient man, even living with James Potter and Sirius Black. But sometimes, even he wondered how he did it.
