Link looked up at his mighty adversary. Ganondorf looked down upon the boy in green with a coy smile.
"Ah, kid. You tried to kill me, to 'Restore light to the world,' as they say, but you failed. Of course you did, even the strongest light can be swallowed by the darkness."
He looked at Link with pity and delight in his eyes.
His once emerald-colored suit was now cut up and was red like rubies. Blood was dripping down from the cuts all over his body. Ganondorf knew that Link was gravely injured, that the battle was lost for him. But the foolish boy kept fighting on with such pitiful persistence.
Link then looked up, wiping the blood from his eyes. His chest was cut up, and his left arm was limp. Link mustered all his strength into his other arm and swung the might Master Sword, but missed. Ganondorf dodged the messy attack and slashed at Link. Link gave out a cry of pain as the blade cut through his right arm.
Link, wincing in pain, slashed again, this time giving out a strong battle cry. Ganondorf parried the attack with ease, then proceeded to attack Link with terrible ferocity, fatally wounding him.
Link then fell to his knees, now completely drenched in blood.
His body felt numb, and he could not feel any pain.
Link felt his life fading away, his hands got cold and his vision was getting blurry.
He couldn't fail, he just couldn't. He would let so many people down. He had to go back to his village; he would have to herd the animals, feed them….
Link watches in despair as Ganondorf raised his sword to deliver the final blow.
The blade fell, and blood splattered all over the sliver floor of the Temple.
Link fell down to his knees, taking his last breaths, his memories were fading away.
Ganondorf bent down to the corpse and got the second piece of the Triforce. He was now near invincible. No one can stop him now. Death and chaos to all was now inevitable.
The great hero prophesized was no more.
The hero had fallen.
The darkness had swallowed the light.
The world was now a dark and cold place.
