Written on the toes of my shoes.
"Your" on the right, "Eyes" on the left.
Those who don't know don't understand.
Buying those plain black and white converse,
How could I have known these would
Become a part of me?
Boredom caused me to write the first quote:
"Actual reality. ACT UP. Fight AIDS!."
Suddenly it grew into an obsession,
Watching RENT so many times,
Searching for those quotes worthy
Of being displayed on my feet.
Now, everywhere I go, I carry
The spirit of Jonathan Larson;
That man who so lovingly gave a voice
To so many AIDS victims.
The man who wrote the inspiring mantra
I now live my life by:
"No Day But Today."
