The Night Before Smallville
'Twas the night before Christmas
And through Metropolis
Not a crime lord was lurking
No not even Lex
Green Arrow was Prowling
Up high on rooftops
While Martian Manhunter
Was helping the Cops
And AC was surfing
The bay with much care
While the rest of the league
Patrolled in the air
But down in the suburb
Of suicide Slums
The Blur stopped some Muggers
Pestering some moms
The monster truck rally
Lois' perfect date
Unfortunately for her
Clark showed up too late
And back at their phone booth
Lois stood in wait
For a call from her "Smallville"
Her lover by fate
But out in an alley
She heard such a clatter
She ran from the phone booth
To see what was the matter
And what did she see
Why that Luthor named Tess
When she was expecting
A shield with an "S"
"There's trouble now Lois"
She said looking grim
And they ran down the alley
Both upon a whim
They went to watchtower
To Find Clark's location
And try to help him
In his present situation
And what to their wandering eyes
Should appear
But a familiar bald head
That invoked much fear
And down in the slums
Clark saw this as well
"I thought Oliver destroyed you…
But you never can tell."
"Well you didn't, I'm here
And I've even brought this
A remote bomb at watchtower
Where inside sits Lois."
And Lois she heard this
And beside her, Tess
They had to escape, quick
They could do no less
And Clark tried to speed
To take the remote from Lex' hand
"Clark it seems you think
That I'm a foolish man"
"Blue Kryptonite
To even the field"
Lex had thought of all
Even weapons he'd wield.
So Lex and Clark fought
While the ladies they ran
But it seemed like Lex
Was getting the upper hand
And just when it seemed
Like Lex had won
Some ice froze his arm Solid
And Jayna said "You're done!"
Don't think that you've beat me
Lex said with a smile
As he pushed the remote
He'd been holding the whole while
Lois pushed Tess Down
Watchtower was set to blow
With the shockwave that followed
Lois was pushed out the window
"We'll take care of him!"
The wonder twins yelled
And Clark ran for Lois
Who screamed as she fell
At the base of watchtower
Clark looked to the sky
And as Lois dropped
Clark thought I Must Fly!
And with that Clark jumped
And caught her mid-air
Then looked down at the ground
And remembered his fear
Now wasn't the time
He had to be strong
And he flew into the air
A jump?... No! Too long!
As he looked down at the city
Christmas lights twinkling behind
He heard Lois ask him
"Can you read my mind?"
He'd finally done it!
He'd learned how to fly
And he flew with Lois
Up into the sky
And as all looked up
They saw them fly past
This would be a night
That in memory would last.
And as they flew off
To Smallville out of sight,
Lois and Clark yelled
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
