Note: Mai-Hime is an anime that was done by the studio Sunrise and is based on a manga of the same name.

Natsuki Kuga rushed to the living room. She was wearing a fancy blue dress and had a big smile on her face. Natsuki said, "I better hurry."

Natsuki's mom asked, "Where are we going?"

Natsuki said, "Shizuru and I are going to a concert."

Natsuki's dad screamed, "Oh no!"

Natsuki asked, "What's the problem?"

Natsuki's dad nervously screamed, "Concerts cost so much money!"

Natsuki said, "Shizuru paid for the tickets so you didn't lose any money."

Natsuki's dad quickly calmed down and replied, "Okay then."

Natsuki's mom asked, "Who's the singer?"

Natsuki answered, "Toni Kakesu. She's a new singer who's rumored to become a big deal someday."

Natsuki's mom said, "I hope that you have a good time."

Natsuki replied, "Thank you."

Natsuki's dad said, "I hope that you don't buy anything."

Natsuki replied, "Whatever."

A half hour later Natsuki arrived at the concert. She spent a few minutes looking for Shizuru Fujino. Shizuru arrived and saw that Natsuki was looking for her. She surprised Natsuki by giving her a kiss on the cheek. Natsuki blushed and said, "Hi Shizuru. Thank you for the concert ticket."

Shizuru responded, "You're welcome. I think that this concert's going to be great."

Natsuki and Shizuru sat down. Shizuru put her arm around Natsuki and said, "I hope you don't mind sweetheart. I didn't bring a coat."

Natsuki responded, "I think that you purposely didn't bring a coat as an excuse to put your arm around me."

Shizuru replied, "Indeed I did."

Natsuki jokingly said, "How sneaky of you."

Shizuru jokingly replied, "Sorry for being so diabolical."

A few minutes later Toni Kakesu got onstage and started singing. Natsuki thought that Toni had one of the most beautiful voices that she's ever heard, but she noticed a problem: Hardly anybody was there. There were only a few dozen people at the concert and a few of them weren't paying attention.

After Toni's song was over only a dozen people clapped. Natsuki tried to clap loudly in order to make the crowd seem bigger than it actually was.

Shizuru asked, "Wasn't that a lovely song?"

Natsuki answered, "Yes, but hardly anybody came to the concert."

Shizuru replied, "People tend to prefer a different type of concert."

Natsuki asked, "What do you mean?"

Shizuru said, "People tend to like concerts go to concerts to see guys who are more popular for their looks than their singing voices."

Natsuki asked, "Are you sure that good looks are all it takes to be a popular singer?"

Shizuru said, "If someone like you got onstage you could get millions of fans even if you were lip-syncing."

Natsuki said, "I'm sure it's a different story than that. If that were true Toni would have millions of fans, because she's beautiful."

Shizuru replied, "She is quite glamorous."

Natsuki said, "I wonder if Toni will ever get the respect that she deserves."

Shizuru replied, "There's one way to find out."

Natsuki asked, "How?"

Shizuru answered, "By me buying us tickets to her next concert."

Natsuki said, "I'll pay for the tickets this time."

Shizuru replied, "Thanks sweetheart." Natsuki and Shizuru kissed.

An hour later Natsuki returned home. Natsuki's mom asked, "How was the concert?"

Natsuki said, "It was really good except for the lack of a fanbase that Toni's gotten."

Natsuki's dad said, "Toni's overrated."

Natsuki replied, "She's underrated, not overrated."

Natsuki's dad said, "Eh."

Two weeks later Natsuki went to the living room and said, "Shizuru and I going to go to another one of Toni's concerts."

Natsuki's mom said, "I hope that you have fun."

Natsuki's dad asked, "Who paid for the tickets this time?"

Natsuki answered, "I did."

Natsuki's dad screamed, "No!" Natsuki started heading towards the concert while Natsuki's dad did a passionate rant about what a waste of money that concert tickets are.

Several minutes later Natsuki arrived at the concert. Natsuki looked around for a few minutes and saw Shizuru. Shizuru hadn't noticed her yet so Natsuki gave her a kiss on the cheek. Shizuru said, "Hi sweetheart. I was surprised by that. I'm usually the one who finds who kisses first."

Natsuki replied, "I owed you for the kiss you gave me at the last concert."

Shizuru blushed and said, "Thank you sweetheart."

Natsuki replied, "You're always the one who makes me blush instead of the other way around. It's a beautiful sight."

Shizuru blushed again and said, "Thank you."

Natsuki looked around to see how many fans came to this concert. She held hands with Shizuru and said, "It seems like more people are at this concert than the previous one, but Toni deserves so much more."

Shizuru responded, "Don't worry my love. I'm sure she'll become a bigger success."

Toni got onstage and said, "Greetings everybody. Thank you for coming to the concert. I hope that you all have a wonderful time." Natsuki and Shizuru clapped.

An angry audience member asked, "Why are you clapping? She hasn't started singing."

Natsuki whispered to the audience member, "Don't be rude." The audience member shook his fist at Natsuki.

Toni sang a romantic song. Some of the audience members thought that the song was heartwarming and adorable, but some of the more cynical audience members thought that the song stunk.

Natsuki and Shizuru were so moved by the song's romantic lyrics that they started kissing each other. They heard the audience giggling at them, but they ignored the audience. They could care less about what the audience thought.

One of the audience members said, "It's rude to kiss at concerts. It makes me want to throw my soda at you."

Natsuki folded her arms and said, "But that would be a much ruder thing to do at a concert."

The audience member said, "I hate people that say things that make sense."

Toni started giving out autographs so Shizuru said, "We should get her autograph."

Natsuki replied, "Okay."

Natsuki walked up to Toni. Toni signed a piece of paper and handed it to Natsuki. Natsuki said, "Thank you. Um, can I ask you a question?"

Toni politely said, "Sure."

Natsuki asked, "Does it ever bother you that you're so underrated? My mind is in a never ending state of confusion about how someone as great as you could be so underrated."

Toni replied, "It's not as big of a problem as you would think it would be. I don't have as many fans as other singers, but the fans I do have are very kind and caring people. Seeing their happy faces is a treat that's always worth witnessing."

Natsuki asked, "Have you considered trying to be an actress? That could help your popularity."

Toni answered, "I recently got cast as a greedy lawyer in an animated film."

Natsuki asked, "But don't you want a bigger role than that?"

Toni said, "I don't need it. I don't care about how many fans I have as long as I still have caring fans. You remind me of yourself."

Natsuki asked, "What do you mean?"

Toni said, "When the crowd was trying to make fun of you for kissing your girlfriend in public you ignored them."

Shizuru replied, "That happens almost everywhere we go."

Toni said, "It's sweet that you don't about other people's biased judgements as long as you have the support of each other. It's truly heartwarming."

Natsuki and Shizuru both blushed. Natsuki said, "Thank you Toni. I realize it doesn't matter how many people like you. What matters is how much the people closest to you love you."

Toni said, "I better start getting ready for my next concert. It was nice meeting both of you. You're adorable together."

Natsuki and Shizuru started walking to Natsuki's house while holding hands. Shizuru asked, "Are you still upset about Toni having a small fanbase?"

Natsuki answered, "Even though she deserves a much bigger fanbase I'm grateful that she's satisfied by the smiles of her fans. Her kindness is even more beautiful than her visual appearance."

Shizuru replied, "That's how I feel about you."

Natsuki blushed and said, "I've blushed too much today."

Shizuru replied, "But you have the most beautiful looking blush that I've ever seen."

Natsuki blushed again and said, "You're going to give me a eternal blush."

Shizuru got excited and replied, "That would be the most adorable thing ever."

Natsuki smiled and said, "I love you."

Shizuru replied, "I love you too." Natsuki and Shizuru kissed. Several people walking by made fun of them, but they didn't care. They always had a wonderful time when they were together and nobody could change that.
