(Note: This is literally the first time I have written something narrative like this since elementary school. I published the rough draft of this on purpose so I may get feedback on what I can do to make this better. Any input will be much appreciated!)
Chapter 1 - A Small Exploration
In the Northern Regions lived two Pikachu, they have been best friends since they were small children.
The first one, James, was the one who did most of the talking and decision making. He had always been on a personal quest to gain inner wisdom and enlightenment. He wore a red bandana over his neck and he had a good balance of electric and special abilities when it came to combat.
The second Pikachu, Geno, was the quiet one who often times let James lead the way, however, he was the one that was always curious about the world and craved adventure. He had an interest in the idea of magic and would often try to make his electricity look like spells being casted. His emotions reflected how often his cheeks would spark. Almost everything he did in combat had to do with electricity, but he was self-taught along James, so they knew practically the same things. He wore a green winter scarf and had cute little eyeglasses.
The two were exploring a nearby forest. They had heard rumors that the deepest part of it lived a strong pokemon. They didn't really care whether it was true or not; they just wanted to have some fun. They passed by a few feral pokemon; they were pokemon that didn't have as much sentience as the ones in town. They couldn't even speak or write, but they left the friends alone for the most part. However, there were some that were territorial. This is what James and Geno were faced with right now.
A small group of three poochyena surrounded the two pikachu on all sides. One of the poochyena let out a howl and they all lunged at the friends. James used Double Team, a power that let him project his entire body somewhere else, to make it seem like he was multiplying. Geno discharged his electricity in all directions. It hit all three of the ambushers plus a little bit on James, but he was also an electric type so it didn't affect him very much.
One of the poochyena fell from this attack, but the other two kept going. One of them pounced on top of Geno and tried to bite into his neck, missing barely and getting into his shoulder. Before it could do any real damage, Geno discharged more electricity. The cooked poochyena then got a slash from the back by James before falling over unconscious. As Geno got back up, the last poochyena growled at them before fleeing back deeper into the cold forest.
"Are you alright, dude? That poochyena really got your neck," James said. Geno groaned in pain, "Th-this really hurts, but I want to keep going." They bandaged up his wounds and continued on.
They continued walking on. They thought they had to be close to the middle of the forest now. James and Geno took a moment to stop and rest. Geno was still feeling the pain of the wound as he would occasionally whimper in pain. James finally decided Geno was in too bad of a condition to keep going, but before he could speak, they heard something behind them.
"You don't belong here. Why have you come?" asked the voice. The duo turned around. The voice belonged to a mightyena. It had an angry expression on its face and it had a few scars. It certainly was out of their league. "Well? Out with it!" it stated.
Geno found Mightyena intimidating. A few sparks flew out of his cheeks as he hid behind James. James tried to reason with it. "My friend and I were exploring this place. We had heard of a powerful pokemon here and we wanted to see it with our own eyes. I assume this is you?" he explained.
The mightyena stared at James. "Leave," he said, "Leave now before I kill you both. Get out of here!"
The two friends scurried off back to civilization, though they will soon realize that this will not be the last time they see the mightyena.
