Author's Notes: After talking with my forever fanfic inspiration, I decided to start writing detailed head canons about the next generation. There is no order for the chapters. They're just whatever comes to mind. Feel free to review and suggest some ideas. This one came from a role-play I was doing, based on a much older Rose who referenced her time as a Puffskein Scout. Thanks Jade, for the name and the inspiration.
Rose Weasley was a very nervous five year old.
She hid behind her mother as they walked into the bright room, decorated with candles that hung midair and colourful handprints on the wall. Still, she saw none of these things, just the dark purple travelling cloak her mother wore.
"Welcome to Puffskein Scout sign-ups!" A woman with a very high voice almost sang to them as they approached the table. "Is there a future Puffskein hiding behind you?"
Rose heard her mother laugh and say, "Yes, hello, my name is Hermione Granger-Weasley and somewhere behind me is my daughter, Rose. Rose, will you come out and say hello?"
Rose poked her face from behind her mother and looked at the woman. She had big, black curls and a heart-shaped face. A large smile dominated most of her face and her appearance did not do anything to calm the girl. Still, with one look from her mother, she bravely (and quietly) said, "Hello, my name is Rose Weasley. It is very nice to meet you." After her well-rehearsed speech she had given dozens of times to her parents' colleagues, she went back to half-hiding behind her mother.
"Well, Rose, you are going to have the best time ever with the Puffskein Scouts! You're going to learn all sorts of fun things and make lots and lots of friends. All I need is Mum to fill out a couple of forms. Why don't you go talk to some of the other nice girls?"
Rose did not want to, for she was painfully shy, but she could tell from her mother's look that she would have to. She tottered off to talk to a girl who had one of her blonde braids in her mouth.
"Hi, I'm Rose Weasley."
"Hi, I'm Amanda Longbottom. I'm not supposed to talk to strangers."
"Neither am I, but you know my name now and I'm not strange, so you can talk to me," Rose logically argued
"I'm not strange either," Amanda replied.
"You're sucking on your hair. My cat does that before she coughs up a hairball. Are you going to cough up a hairball? Cause that's gross," Rose made a face at the thought of someone doing that.
"I'm not gross!" Amanda wailed. The noise caught the attention of Amanda's mother who rushed over before her daughter started to cry.
"Bye Amanda!" Rose said cheerfully, not aware that she had hurt the other girl's feelings.
"Oh Rose," her mother said as she held out her hand for Rose to grab before they left the room, "Try to make friends next time we're here."
"Before you go," the witch who had signed them in said, holding out an arm to stop them, "Rose, can you remember something for me? Now that you're an official Puffskein Scout, you need to know our secret greeting? It's a secret though, so you can't show anyone. Here, watch me." The woman, very slowly, raised her index finger to her nose. "Can you do that, Rose?" Rose nodded and repeated the action. "Good job! See you next week!"
"Rose, you can take your finger off your nose now."
