Author's Note: Survivor here this is my first story on this site and I'm excited to see how people like the concept of this story. I'm an amateur author and am always welcome to any constructive criticism to better my writing and pacing if they need improvement which I probably do but won't know until somebody else mentions it. Anyways I hope you guys like the first chapter it's a bit short, but this chapter was mostly made to set the stage of the story. Future chapters should be longer than this chapter but will take longer to make. I will let you read the chapter now please post your criticisms if you have any.

Debris had him half buried with his left side being the only part of him he could move. When he tried to move, he grit his teeth in pain something went through his aura and it felt deep. Looking around he saw the light orange of the sky and dark smoke. He knew what happened they failed in stopping the train and now the city was in danger. Screaming in pain he tried to lift the debris off of him with no luck. On his final try he could hear the screaming of the defenseless citizens of Vale, but faintly he could hear the voice of a rose sending orders to group up and defend Vale. With a smirk he let his head touch the ground with exhaustion "they'll clean up this mess" he said to himself before coughing up blood.

As he was about to close his eyes in acceptance of his fate, the growl of mankind's true enemy alerted the wounded man to reality, and a split second before the Grimm attacked he drew his revolver out of its holster blasting the Grimm away with one shot. Letting his arm fall to his side he sighed listening to the sounds of fighting and even approaching footsteps. As his vision started to grow dark, he could have sworn they were screaming his name "Silver! Silver! Silver!"

Six Months Earlier

Silver slowly woke up to the sound of a guard ordering him to walk out of his cell the wolf faunus was just not up for it and absentmindedly said "five more minutes." Next to him his friend Titus a blind bull faunus pulled him up to his feet "we got a visitor, but they won't tell us who it is." Sighing he walked out of the cell with Titus by his side the giant of a man making him look like a damn doll. They were lead by a pair of guards to an interrogation room with a familiar Headmaster with a cup of coffee. Looking at Titus with a dumbfounded look he for a moment forgot his friend was blind "our visitor is Ozpin" he whispered to his friend his reaction was closer to his own.

Ozpin simply smiled and motioned for the two criminals to take a seat. Silver led his friend to his seat before looking at the Headmaster "why is the Headmaster of the most prestigious Huntsmen academy in all of remnant here of all places I didn't know we were going to get this much attention" he said with a chuckle with genuine surprise. With the same smile on his face Ozpin rested the cup of coffee on the table before folding his hands on the table "I'm here because I heard a small band of outlaws were able to rob a train filled with Atlesian technology not released to the public." With a slightly more serious tone he shrugged his shoulders "I don't know about no Atlesian tech, but I do know our so called leader left us to fend for ourselves." Ozpin calmly picked up his cup of coffee and drank from it and a moment of silence spoke up "I have a proposition to make with you both. I want you two to come to my academy and become huntsmen." Hearing the offer Titus coughed suddenly completely confused "you want criminals to join your academy you're either stupid or insane we have done more than just robbed trains we killed people why do you want us." Looking at the two faunus without a care Ozpin explained "I'm making what you could say as an investment. I wouldn't have made this offer if I thought you wouldn't be of use to Beacon. You'll be taken to the academy and be trained in the ways of hunting Grimm you will have your personal equipment and have access to the city, but if you try to escape the city will be hunted down by high class huntsman and be put back in your cell. Besides being trained you will also provide information of your former gang to us specifically how they operate and who they do business with since they are suspected of being in league with the White Fang supplying them with weapons."

Ending his explanation he drank once more from his coffee and waited for the duos answer. The two partners leaned their heads together and discussed the draw backs of accepting the deal but they they soon realized that this was their only chance to not rot in prison for the better part of their lives. With a sigh of resignation Silver turned back to the Headmaster "We'll take the deal you'll have your pawns" he said before offering his hand to seal the deal. With the same knowing smile Ozpin takes the hand and shakes it "you'll be on a one way trip to Beacon in the morning. You'll be working with other students and if you hurt one of them outside of combat training with malicious intent then there's nowhere you can hide from my wrath do you understand me." With a nod of understanding Ozpin releases the hand as the faunus are escorted back to their cells as he watched them leave Ozpin rested his head on his hands before sighing 'Don't let this become another mistake.'
