Summary: Veronica discovers a box in the attic.

Veronica was rummaging through the attic, looking for anything she might want to bring to her new home, when she came upon a dusty box.

Curious, she opened it. Inside, there were pictures. A lot of pictures. There must have been hundreds of them.

She picked up one of the pictures and smiled at it. It was of her and Lilly. She must have been twelve or thirteen there because her hair was in pigtails. Even then, Lilly showed signed of being a sexy, voluptuous girl.

She put the picture back in the box and then picked up another one. This one was of her and Logan. They were sitting by the Kane pool, looking into each other's eyes, in the middle of an intense discussion. She wasn't sure of who took the picture—either Lilly or Duncan. This was the first time that Veronica realized there was a connection between them, even all the way back then when Lilly was alive.

For so long, due to the anger between them after Lilly's death, Veronica forgot they had once been close friends. But she saw the friendship, the intimacy, between them in this particular picture. She didn't remember what they were talking about, but it looked serious as neither of them were smiling.

"What are you doing up here?" a familiar voice asked from behind her, startling her.

She dropped the picture back into the box and looked over her shoulder. She smiled at her boyfriend. "I was looking for anything I wanted to bring with me and I found a box of old pictures from before Lilly's death. I guess I was just getting lost in the memories of a simpler time."

"Let's bring them with us. We'll look through them together."

Veronica bit her bottom lip. "Do you ever think about whether we would have gotten together if Lilly never died?" She had told him about her dream the night before their high school graduation, but they never spoke about what might have happened if Lilly had lived. Until now.

Logan's answer came fast. "I think we would have gotten together eventually."

"How are you so sure?"

"Because I know I had feelings for you before Lilly's death, even if I wasn't ready to admit it at the time. And Lilly and I wouldn't have lasted much longer. I told you about the day of the car wash. I knew then it was over, so I wrote her goodbye note. Once I was over the breakup, I'm sure I would have looked at you and finally realized I belonged with you. That you could give me the true intimacy and connection that I couldn't get with Lilly. That you could give me the softness and love that was lacking in my relationship with Lilly."

"How can you be so sure I would have returned the sentiment?"

Logan's eyes were gentle and knowing. "Because I know your heart. You might have been reluctant at first. You might have felt like you were betraying Lilly, but I think eventually, you would have given in when you couldn't deny it any longer."

"And we would still be moving in together."

"Exactly." Logan nodded decisively.

Veronica laughed and lifted the box. "Take it. I want to look around to make sure there's nothing else I want to bring."

Logan took the box and with a wink, he walked back down the stairs.

Veronica sighed. She never thought she'd be moving in with Logan Echolls, but it was actually happening. And she couldn't be happier.
