Doom. Doctor Freaking Doom. A dramatic name, yes. Intimidating, no. So why would a villain pick such a name? Clint Barton has no clue. To be honest he doesn't care, all he cares about is how that villain keeps on interrupting his dates with Natasha. So when reports of an explosion happening in their hometown of New York City reach his ears, he of course thinks it's the aforementioned villain.
He goes with the rest of the merry bunch called the Avengers to Central Park where the site of the explosion is. And as predicted it's Dr. Doom and his bots making trouble. But before they can do anything a green, glowing ball of fire/electricity/something hits Doom in the noggin and he stumbles back and falls to the ground, unconscious. Of course the Avengers look around for the source of the energy; Clint finds the source of it soon enough, and it seems that the source was this one person who was by a massive and ancient oak. He then points at the person out for the members of the team who did not have the luck to spend 2 years of their lives training in a ninja facility. He, along with the rest of the Avengers stared at the person.
The person in front of them is a boy no older than 15 with white hair, pale skin and glowing green eyes-not just green but neon green, nature green, a toxic green that often finds itself to be compared with the radiation of nuclear waste...whatever hue it could be described as. The boy who was staring at them as well turned his back on them and began to fly away even though it seemed he had no machines with which to do so anywhere on his willow-like body. That was when Tony Stark snapped out of his shock of a kid of landing a KO in one the person that normally took the entire team at the very least a few hours to do, and with a quick input to his 'iron' suit flew over to the kid. His causality with situations should have by now caused him to lose his life, to be honest.
"Hey...um...kid, what was that?" Tony tried to shape a sphere with his hands, but it didn't quite get the message across so he stilled his arms but didn't drop them. The being stopped and turned to look at the man in the suit, looking at the hands that the man was holding aloft before looking into the glowing eyes of the iron man suit.
"That was a hero complex kicking in." The boy replied in soft but clear words. Almost monotone. Natasha noted as she felt her muscles coil even more, she along with most of the team were very much wary of this person and his act of 'kindness'. Thor said the first thing he could think of with his brain that saw more good in the world than there really was. By far, and he spoke with a grin and a eased body.
"You are a hero, like us, stranger?" The boy stared at the thunder god for a few seconds, and Thor got the distinct feeling that he was somehow being criticized when suddenly a loud and annoying beeping like the screeches of an alarm clock sounded from somewhere around them. The boy's eyes widened a bit and he turned to face the direction of the sound. It was coming from a blue ball of electricity that they were unable to notice before, that was gradually getting smaller. The boy had zoomed ahead and was quickly holding the energy in both his hands, gazing into its depths. After a perhaps one too long minute the ball disappeared and the boy sighed, casting his gaze at the heroes.
"Well, Avengers seems like I must stay with you for a period of time."
...
Now let's fast forward a half hour. The Avengers are still in Central Park with the boy, but were by now joined by Director Fury and his right hand, Coulson. Tony being himself pointed them out first, suit still being worn but the faceplate being drawn down. He somehow -knew- that the Director would have some answers, at the very least one.
"Now kid, you're gonna talk to Daddy Fury." The kid, was currently sitting cross-legged, in the air. He bowed his head to Coulson and Fury. Coulson's lips up-turned far enough that it was obvious he was smirking, and quite smugly as well.
"Well Fenton, what is the reason for you being here?" Fury asked this, looking over the glorious lack of carnage in the park, and then at the floating male cooly. However, if one listened carefully they could have detected something akin to satisfaction in the man's tone. The being lightly snorted, eyes softening.
"Still playing out your pirate dreams, Nick? How old are you now, 46? Didn't you learn that you're not really supposed to play dress-up by now?" The boy, Danny said, while looking at Fury's eye patch with interest.
"Nah kiddo, now the good ol' motherfucker wants to be a mysterious pain in the ass that won't explain what the hell is going on right now," Tony said saying the thoughts of not only the superhero group but also of the handful of SHEILD agents who came here with their Director to take Doom away to a holding jail, sadly, not a prison cell. Damn cross-border politics. Coulson decided to gift the people of this area with his words then.
"What is going on, is that one of Earth's allys has come back and did the job that you all were supposed to do, and much better might I add, and now myself and the Director are talking to him." Then Bruce said,
"Who is he, Fury?"
"He is an ally of earth." It was spoken as if it explained everything. "If he asks you useless motherfuckers to do someshit, do it. That is all that you all need to know." Fury said with his hands held behind him, and went to walk away. He then paused and looked slightly over his shoulder as he spoke, "He can also defeat 10 hulks with his pinky along," He held aloft one of his own pinkies for a moment before turning once more and went ahead and walked away from the scene in the walk of that oozed of utter badass with Coulson at his heels. Tony and the Avengers were stunned, but the agents in the team got over this far quicker then the civilian members of the team. Tony then turned to the floating teen in the air, instead of looking up he went and hovered in the air in front of him. Tony then cleared his throat even though there were no obstructions and said,
"Hi there."
"Well hello to you too, Anthony Stark," Danny replied. Tony had a face of confusion beneath his mask.
"How do you know my full name, Short Stuff? All aliens that I know don't know even the last name" He asked, already going by the idea that the indivual was probably another power-soaked alien like their pal on the team.
"I know all you, Anthony Stark. I know Natasha Romanov, Clint Barton, Thor Odinsson, Bruce Banner, the founding members of the Avengers you are." Clint made a face at this.
"So you're a stalker? Damn-Tasha remember to bobby-trap my underwear drawer." Clint, obviously, said. Danny did what only can be described as a mental face-palm. Clint getting the emotion behind those eyes, then shut his trap.
"Now, Avengers." He rose from his sitting position and his face and eyes were carefully blank. "I am, at the moment, forced to live and work with you for about 6 months..or 6 six years due to a bad turn of events. Would you maybe take me to the Avengers Tower so that we can start this ordeal? It would really kind of you to do that."
Now you might think he might have added a bit of emotion into his words? Not the slips when talking to the grim duo, everything the being, Danny said, was pretty much monotone, despite the casual words. Some of the SHIELD agents hanging around actually looked at the -young- teen with disguised awe in their eyes. Hell, even Natasha was amazed with his level of self-control, at his age she was at a similar level, but still very lax compared to what the 15 year old look a like has. It was exactly then his last statement sunk into their brains. Tony was soon freaking the hell out about that little fact and so were the gentlemen Clint and Thor. Natasha was Natasha and was watching with a cool air about her at the situation and Bruce looked at Danny with relief in his eyes as he remembered what the Director said earlier.
And so thus begins the tale of the Ghost and The Bunch of Mortals.
((Well it was time to edit my most popular piece of work, I think! Edit and then start posting again, actually, but for the moment editing. At the moment I don't plan to make too many changes, although I suppose the plot will be different from what I planned all those years ago, but yeah! We're back in business!))
