We were just getting out the carriage to be seated with the rest of the tributes. I did a quick glimpse of the tributes when my eyes caught the girl from Distract 11, Rue. Wow, she was beautiful. I seen her around during training, but never really payed attention. Until now. She was dressed in a gossamer gown complete with wings, beautiful. I forgot we had to move until Peeta pulled at my arm. "Come on." he said. I grabbed his hand afraid I'd fall over in these heals Cinna put me in. Were seated, and i looked around at the tributes, looking for her, i find her shes looking the other way admiring the crowd her hands rested nicely in her lap. Shes so small, and younger then me. This feels a little weird, these feelings. I never once felt attracted to a girl, let alone a boy. Gale, he was just friend, i saw him as a brother, and Peeta..i don't know. Sure hes attractive in someway. He had nice eyes and smile, but i couldn't see myself with him romantically. I cringe at the thought. But Rue, a girl, i can see myself with.
The interviews pass fast, I'm getting a little nervous. The boy from District 11 just finished and Rue is making her way up. A hush falls over the crowd at the sight of this magical wisp of a tribute. I smile at her as she sits down in the same position she was sitting with the tributes. Casar's very sweet with her, complimenting her training score, a seven for a girl so small. He asks her "What will be your greatest strength in the area?" She doesn't hesitate, "I'm very hard to catch. " she says. Aw, that's cute. I smile at her is awe. "..and if they can't catch me, they can't kill me. So don't count me out." she says. "I wouldn't in a million years," says Caear. She finishes and as she makes her way down i watch her, she looked up and caught my eye. I smiled back and she did the same. I was falling for her. This felt so weird. I was distracted until they called me up. I answered the questions as honestly as i could. It wasn't so bad. Now, Peeta was up.
His interview was going good s far. Answering the right questions and everything. Until Caesar asked "So, Peeta, any girlfriends back home?" he didn't hesitate. "No, but theres this one girl, ive had a crush on since i could remember." he says. "Does she have another fellow?" Caesar asks. "I don't know, but a lot of boys like her." he says. "Well, you win, go home, and she can't turn you down then, eh?" asks Caesar. "I don't think i'll work out. Winning... won't help in my case" he says. "Why is that?" asks Caesar. "Because...because she came here with me."
My mouth dropped. I shut it quickly as i remembered all of Panem would see.
