A/N : I am a big fan of Cirque du Freak. This story is about my OC and how she ends up with the Cirque and meets a certain snake boy that we all love.

The babies scream filled the hospital room as the mother let out a deep groan of relief. The wait was over her baby was finally here. "Well Mrs Clarkson you and your husband have got a healthy baby girl." Mrs Clarkson and her husband began to cry, this was their beautiful daughter Emily finally here. "But," the Doctor continued, "We may have to keep her in the hospital for some check-ups." A panic stricken look settled on the couples faces. "Wh-at, what do you mean?" stuttered Mr Clarkson. The Doctor sighed and continued, "It doesn't seem to be causing her any pain but she seems to have some – different physical attributes."

"Doctor- Doctor let me see my child," Mrs Clarkson reached out.

The Doctor hastily handed over the new-born. Mrs Clarkson screamed and Mr Clarkson gasped.

"Take it away! That is not my child!" Mrs Clarkson's previous cries of delight had changed into horror and disgust.

The Doctor took the baby out of Mr and Mrs Clarkson's reach and held it close to her chest, "Mrs Clarkson, please stop this right now. Of course this is your child and that is no way to treat-"

"That freak is not my child!"

The baby could sense the hatred in her mother's voice and began to cry.

"There there, it's okay," the doctor did her best to calm the child, despite wailing couple that sat just beside her.

"Don't console the freak, get it away from my wife. You are upsetting her!" demanded Mr Clarkson.

"Mr Clarkson! May I remind you that this is your child, do not speak in that way," stated the Doctor.

Mrs Clarkson violently shook her head, "That. Little. Monster. Is no child of ours," she spat, "And I want it gone right now."

"But Miss Clarkson," the Doctor pushed, "You've waited for a child and-"

"Did you not hear my wife Doctor? Get the freak away, we don't want a disease!"

The Doctor wrapped the child in blankets and left the screaming couple behind in the ward.

In a separate ward the Doctor laid Mr and Mrs Clarkson's baby down and began to give check-ups.

Emily, before Mrs Clarkson went into labor she said that was to be her name if she was girl. The Doctor hadn't lied Emily was a very healthy baby. As for her physical attributes. Rather than having human ears on the side of her head Emily had, what the doctor could only describe as, animal ears nearer the top of her head. She had a short stump on her tailbone. Light dustings of speckles were across her cheeks, shoulders, arms and legs. And Emily's big green eyes were very – catlike? The Doctor contemplated this thought. She understood that her parents were surprised, but disgusted? Saying that they didn't want their own child because she was a, freak? No this was wrong. The Doctor cradled Emily in her arms. The distant wailing of Mrs Clarkson could still be heard. Emily was just unique.
