Hello everyone, I intended to do this at some point down the road, honestly didn't plan for it so early. But thanks to the suggestion of it by a reader of One Crazy Family ( this one's for you PRussiaGC), I initially said I had no immediate plans but because I'm a scatter brain I ended up thinking about it anyways during my free time, and by free time I mean every waking hour that I wasn't already spending on fanfics. Regardless I struck so much gold in my brainstorm that I had a self-induced fanboy moment. So now I present to you the aptly named tale of Vi and Cal's relationship.
The alarm clock went off and Vi promptly smashed her fist down on it. She was going to have to get another alarm clock again. She groaned as she got up, she wasn't usually a morning person but she was in an especially sour mood since Cait had gotten herself transferred on the hunt for the ever elusive "C". Needless to say the other officers didn't much care for the idea of being paired up with the officer famous for collateral damage and excessive force. So the department either kicked her off or shipped some poor sucker from another department to work with her. Given her undeniable skill and info on the underground they opted for option 2. Vi was fully aware this guy was viewed as a martyr for the rest of the department and Vi herself wasn't to pleased at the idea of meeting whoever they were. "Dumb Cait, I don't care if Jinx has been missing for over a year, she's still more important then whoever the hell "C" is." she grumbled over the departure of her partner. Her new partner was supposed to show up today, causing her to seriously consider not showing up for work today. But the land lady had been busting her for rent recently and she needed the cash. She sighed and got up for whatever sort of excuse for an officer she was being paired with.
She noticed the nervous looks from her co-workers, they clearly did not like the odds of her partner surviving the month. "I'm not that bad." she grumbled to herself in futile self assurance. That was when a man bumped in to her spilling coffee all over her. "Watch where your going you moron!" The man quickly ran and grabbed paper towel and began drying her. "I-I'm so sorry mam." he said. Vi yanked the tissues out of his hands and began wiping herself. "Whatever." she grumbled feeling slightly guilty at shouting at him, it wasn't necessarily his fault, she hadn't been paying much attention either. Vi quickly left the man who continued to apoligies as she left.
When she finally reached her office she examined her clothes. Her top was soaked, so she took it off and was wringing it out when the man from before opened the door. She was alerted of his arrival by a small yelp and the immediate slaming of the door. "I'm so sorry!" could be heard from outside. Vi rolled her eyes, everyone in the department was afraid of her but this guy took the cake. Speaking of which she hadn't seen him around before. "Must be new." she figured, then she put 2 and 2 together. Vi ran out the door (her shirt still off) and grabbed the man by the collar. The man was blushing intensely and Vi asked "You're not my partner are you?" Cal was more focused on her lack of clothing "Y-y-your shi-" he desprately tried to tell her, but Vi interrupted "Are you my partner or not?" she insisted. Cal wordlessly nodded as blood trickled down his nose. Vi groaned then noticed the blood. "Hey why are you bleeding? I didn't hurt you did I?" Cal froze. "I-it's a condition, it bleeds very easily if the air is dry." Vi shrugged. "Well, uh you might want to clean that up, bye." she said putting him down and going back to her room. "My name is Cal by the way." the man said to himself.
Vi sat down at her desk and groaned. Her partner had been worse then expected. He had been a stuttering mess from the first minute they met. "Am I really that scary?" Vi said lamenting her situation slightly. She laid her head down on her desk then felt something wet. "What the hell?" she said confused, she looked down and saw her wet shirt on her desk. "Wait..." Vi murmured as she stared down at her body. She only had her bra on. Vi began blushing tremendously "Thank God people stay away from my office." she said thankful for her isolation for once. "Wait..." she said once again processing information "That nerdy office guy, was that why he got a nosebleed?" Vi thought then mocked herself for the notion "Yeah right, I'm as attractive as a monster to these people." You see dear readers despite Vi's overwhelming confidence and go getter personality beauty was one thing Vi thought herself incapable of. Given how she was treated as an object of fear in her life it would be understandable as to why she would think this.
A few hours later her new partner showed up at her door. "Oh boy." She thought to herself. "What's up... what's your name again?" The man scratched his head. "C-Cal, I guess I didn't say it clearly before, heh." he said awkwardly. Vi rolled her eyes "Look bud, if your gonna be so scared around me, you might as well ask for another transfer, I don't think anyone here will blame you for it either." Cal raised his eyebrows in surprise "What, transfer again? I just got here, besides I swear I'm not afraid of you." Vi got up from her desk and walked over to him, she then bent over till their faces were only a few inches apart. "Oh yeah? Prove it, talk to me without that stutter." she challenged. Cal lowered his head so she couldn't see his face and murmured something. "What was that? I can't hear you." "Close. Your to close." he murmured. Vi backed up as she felt a pang in her chest. "Heh, you didn't stutter at least." She said with hurt evident in her voice. Cal sensing he had screwed up tried to apoligies. "I-I'm sorry, l-let's try that again." He stammered. Vi held her hand up "You know what, I'll save you the paper work." She took out her badge and tossed it at him, he clumsily caught it as she walked out the door. "I quit." she said on the way out.
Cal was left alone with the badge and his thoughts.
My, such a rough beginning for these 2, hope you enjoy it and I intend to update this right after I update Third Time's the Charm, then after this one I'll do One Crazy Family. Maniwa United will be last since I released the first official chapter today.
