He put his arm over my shoulders making me stand still as ice while my heart thumped loudly. Not that he'd notice of course.
He laughed loudly.
"Good job rookie!" Said Gajeel with pride. "I knew I wasn't wrong when I chose you!"
I smiled faintly.
"Thanks"
I was fairly new at Fairy Tail. I came here after my last relative, my aunt passed away. She always said I had latent magical potentiality.
I looked at Gajeel, now sitting on a table with Levy talking brightly. I sighed returning to my book.
When I came I was really closed up cause I didn't trust anyone. Everyone tried to approach me but with no success. Only Gajeel managed to get through. Was it cause he understood me ? Cause he had been through the same life? I don't know. I don't care. Only thing I knew is that my eyes always follow him. His eyes aren't following me though...
"What are you doing alone?" asked Natsu. "Come drink with us!" Before I had the chance to do anything, I was on a table with Lucy, Gray, Kana, Natsu, Loki and Erza, with a glass of beer in my hand.
For half a second, I thought I caught a glimpse of Gajeel smiling towards me. I blinked and the moment was gone.
Several glasses of beer later, I could safely say I was drunk enough. My alcohol resistance was higher than I imagined.
"I need to go home now" I said dizzily.
"Want me to take you..." started Natsu and passed out on the floor. Silence. Laughter.
"I think I can go alone" I got up and stumbled but fell on something cold and warm.
"I'll take her home. She's my rookie after all"
Gajeel.
We got home without a word.
"Thanks" I mumbled as I got in.
"No problem."
Silence.
"I can get by from this point. Goodnight" I reached the doorknob to closed the door. He stopped it.
"Before I leave... err, I wanted to say you did a good job!" Good job?
"Thanks..." I tried closing it again but it was stopped again.
"I mean getting along with everyone." He put his hand on my shoulder. My heart thumped. I felt my defenses weren't as strong tonight.
I closed my eyes and smiled. The grip on my shoulder tightened.
"Are you ok?" I opened my eyes.
"Yes"
"Then why are you crying?" Crying? I put my hand on my face and felt something warm trickling down. Oh no...
"I'm-I'm just tired."
He had to go.
"Are you sure?"
Leave. Leave before...
"Yes"
Before...
"Don't think so" He out his hand under my chin and looked closer.
"W-what?"
No!
"Since when are you stuttering?" He came closer.
No! I closed my eyes.
"Why are you closing your eyes? Open them!"
"No"
Before...
"Open them!" I did. And I saw straight through his worrisome eyes...
Before...
"I love you..."
Before I do something stupid...
"What?" Surprise.
Oh no, I didn't want this!
"I love you..." I whispered again against my will. Why can't I stop? "I love you...! Since a long time ago... I can't stop the feelings." Our eyes were locked. "Even though I should... Even though I know your heart belongs elsewhere..." I felt my tears falling down my face hard. "I'm sorry..." I leaned, closed my eyes and kissed him.
This was it. The end. So sad...
BAM!
I opened my eyes surprised and dazzed. Gajeel's hand was on the door.
"Why?" he asked. Why?
"I'm sor-"
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" I blinked. "You always wore that apathetic face... Ugh, I'm not good at this!"
Beer had affected me more than I thought cause I couldn't understand anything.
He looked mad at the floor and then at me.
I was frozen and dizzy.
He closed the distance fast and kissed me forcefully and I almost fainted from the excitement. He noticed and broke the kiss.
"I know you are drunk but don't you dare forget about tonight!"
The door closed... with noone standing outside.
Believe me... I'll never forget tonight.
