Heading Out
I start on this journey
New in many ways
Yet connected with my father
And his dream to sail among the stars
I watched him as he designed
Thinking, innovating
Finding a way to make things work
And always, always the dream was there
He taught me to trust the wind
He taught me to give my all
He taught me that the only thing worth living
Was to set your vision and make the dream real
Through many years
He was held back from finding the way
To make it his vision reality
By those who are incapable of dreams
And now as I start on this journey
I am forced to accept that to achieve
I must bring a soul with me
Who I feel can never share my dream.
And yet, that was another thing
My father taught me at his knee
That sometimes the vision needs
The very part believed to end the dream.
And so, I head out among the stars
The first of many more to come
And pray that this richer vision
Will result in yet a greater dream
