Chapter One: Trapped-
Kiba tugged as hard as he could at the elevator doors. Nothing. Even in the darkness of the metal cubical, everyone could see nothing was happening. The only light came from the red "Emergency" button on the panel.
Kiba pulled a few times more. "It's stuck," he announced. Akamaru whined at his feet and sniffed the doors.
"Great!" Naruto groaned as he slid down the wall and hugged his knees. "We're trapped."
"Thank you captain obvious," Sasuke retorted.
"You shouldn't have gotten on, fat cow!" Sakura shouted at Ino. If it weren't so dark, and Ino could see, she would have slapped Sakura silly.
"Shut up, forehead," she replied.
Gaara made his way over to Kiba and helped him pull one more time. The doors gave way a few centimeters and slammed shut.
"I think it almost took my fingers," Gaara said as he checked to make sure it actually didn't.
"It doesn't matter," Temari called, "we're stuck between floors."
"Lee, can you see what floors we're on?" Kankuro asked, seeing as Lee was the closest to the panel.
Lee glanced at the barely illuminated buttons and spotted the floor. "The sixth and seventh. Why?"
"Give me a boost, Sasuke," Kankuro ordered as he squinted at the ceiling. He could almost make out the outline of an escape hatch.
"Why don't you give me a boost?" Sasuke defied. "You'll break my shoulders."
Kankuro wasn't in the mood for his attitude, so he lifted the black-haired boy onto his shoulders.
"I can reach it!" Sasuke grunted as he twisted the handle on top. In a few minutes, his weight was relieved off Kankuro's shoulders and he was clunking his way on top on the elevator.
"What's he doing up there?" Tenten called as she tried to see out of the hatch.
"Dunno," Ino replied.
The rest of the ten people and Akamaru were positioning themselves to see out of the emergency exit.
The clomping stopped after a few seconds. "I don't see a way off this!" Sasuke called back into the elevator. The footsteps started back again for the door. There was a thud and Sasuke let out a high-pitched, girlish scream.
"What's happening?" Naruto asked to no one in particular.
There was the sound of sliding on the roof. Everyone was still, afraid that if they moved so would the elevator.
Sasuke dropped back down into the elevator. In the soft glow of the emergency button, Sasuke's face was as white as a sheet.
"Sasuke?" Hinata asked, placing her hand on his shoulder. "Are you alright?"
He whirled around. "Do I look alright? I almost fell off!"
