"Have you ever kissed a boy?"
James has broken their comfortable silence with a weird statement. Teddy is laying, sprawled across James' bed and rolls over onto his stomach, clutching his butterbeer.
"No," he says, for some unknown reason a hot flush rising in his pale cheeks.
"Oh," says James, swigging his beer and feeling the metallic taste burn his tonsils, "me either. I wonder if it's different than kissing a bird…" he trails of, both of them blushing now. They both take drinks of their butterbeers to have something to do with their hands.
Normally there are no awkward silences between these friends, laughter more prevalent as James has hard rock low in the background, and the once-bleak bedrooms of Grimmauld Place have been polished and painted and the windows thrown open. This has been turned into a home.
And suddenly Teddy has no idea what he is doing but he reaches over and closes the small space between him and James and tugs the twelve-year old close and practically smashes his lips onto his god-cousins and woah man his hair is turning pink and is that James' tongue?! And who knew this could be so amazing?
Teddy smells like soap and that pine-scent cologne that Lily bought him and oh sweet Merlin neither of them can breathe.
And suddenly it's over because sweet Lily's voice is outside the door saying in her small quiet voice, "dinner's ready!"
They roughly break apart and tumble down the rickety stairs, being careful not to touch.
Later, it's all they can do is evade each others eyes and nudge each other's feet under the table as they scarf down Ginny's spaghetti.
AN: Heehee. I can do nothing but giggle now because I can just imagine this happening and it's pretty freaking adorable if I do say so myself. This was for the First Kiss Challenge on HPFC. I freaking own nothing.
Review, please! Much love. (:
