His voice raw from screaming for his brother, pleading for Sam or someone to help him, Dean Winchester eventually grew quiet except for the occasional involuntary whimper, quivering past his lips. He hung, bloodied, from the intersecting chains, a gray-black void enveloping him. Time stood still.
Then suddenly, he sensed a presence beside him. He stared at the indistinct form hovering there and was filled with dread. It touched him and a streak of unbearable pain tore through his body. He screamed long and loud, his voice cracking.
"Who are you?" he whispered when his breath returned.
"I am Alistair."
