Chased by Shadows

Hikari doesn't like it when someone sneaks out of the shadows to scare her. Because the Dark Ocean's still in arm's reach and it reminds her all too much of those shadows that had haunted her.

They still haunt her, sometimes. In her dreams, when nobody else is looking and she can't yell for help. But she can scream in real life, and she does, even if it's just an innocent friend trying to sneak up on her or something completely unintentional. She can't help it; she's not weak, and she gets that now, but the creepy crawly feeling of someone behind her like that still scares her.

Her friends understand. As in, they say they understand and they try not to sneak up on her, but they don't understand because no-body else is in her shoes. They don't know how it feels to be as though you're a little mouse running through a labyrinth unable to hide with the cat watching your every move. And she doesn't want them to understand that either; it's bad enough when it's just her, and they're there for her anyway. They're there and that's all she needs.

Because the shadows can't sneak up on her as well when there's someone watching her back.
