Summary: Kai breaks Tyson's heart.
Author Notes: This is a bit weird and random. I really wanted to write a Max story, but look what happened...!!! Technically set in 'Drawn' universe, same school, same lake...and Max and Tyson are roommates. I hope it makes sense:-)
Warning: Slight non-con implications. Kai/Tyson. Not Tyson/Max
HEARTBREAK
"Tears, Tyson?" Kai asked, his voice mildly puzzled as he touched Tyson's face. "But why? This is what you wanted, isn't it? Dear, sweet, naïve Tyson…"
Pushing Kai off, Tyson sat up and straightened his clothes with slow, deliberate movement, and then stood up. "No, this isn't what I wanted. But you finally made yourself loud and clear." His throat hurt from holding back but he continued, "Goodbye, Kai. Be happy."
Kai watched as Tyson walked away and then drew a long shuddering breath.
"I'm sorry…so sorry," he whispered. "But I don't want you in my messed up life, Tyson…and this is the only way to get you to leave me alone…" His fingers closed around a small pebble and he picked it up and flung it angrily into the lake. It hardly made any ripple. He wondered what would happen if he threw himself into the lake. Would the lake remain as calm? It would be so easy to end it all…and no one would ever notice...or care. An end to everything…
Tyson's tearstained face appeared before him and he knew he couldn't do it. He would live through this…he would remember this pain for the rest of his life. He had to do it for Tyson.
Kai lay back and gazed at the velvety star-strewn sky above. And cried for Tyson…for himself…for things that could never be….
ooo
"Tyson! Where in the world have you been? I've been so worried…Tyson, are you alright?"
Tyson brushed away Max's anxious queries, picked up his pajamas and made straight for the bathroom. When he came out half an hour later, Max was already in bed, but not asleep. He hesitated and then went up to him. Max stared at him worriedly.
"Can I…Can I sleep with you, Maxie? Just for tonight?" Tyson asked in a small voice.
Max said nothing but shifted and drew back the covers. Gratefully, Tyson climbed in and drew the covers up to his chin.
"Are you cold?" Max asked. Tyson nodded. Max put his arms around his friend, seeming to instinctively know that it wasn't the physical cold that Tyson was talking about. Tyson turned and burrowed into his arms, clutching Max tightly. It took Max a few seconds to realize that Tyson was crying. It alarmed him but he said nothing as he held his friend until after a long while the sobs ceased and Tyson's shallow breathing told him that he had fallen asleep.
