When Lee cries, the tears roll down his face accompanied by loud, gasping sobs. He will clench his fist. He will make passionate speeches, in a passion. And if he does not, in truth, look as manful as he hopes to look, there is always Gaisensei, as his role model and teacher in the art of Manly Ways, who will be manly enough for the both of them.

Lee is not attractive when he cries. His tears are never as crystalline diamonds, there are no roses in his cheeks. It's a honest mix of sweat, hot salt fluid and snot that he tastes, going down. When he cries, his face is suffused with red and there are patches of blotchy skin where the tears have tracked a path. At those times he looks kind of funny; like he's eaten too much curry and he'll pass out soon. Oh, there's no disputing it. If you're his friend you get used it. He'll cry at the drop of a hat, given the smallest provocation, because he's never been one to repress his emotions, has Rock Lee.

He always feels better afterwards.

When Sakura cries, her tears fall silently. She weeps, she is painfully aware. So sometimes her tears are ladylike and catch sunlight like gems. But sometimes... She waits until safely esconsed away from prying eyes, behind closed doors (better yet her bedroom) before ever allowing herself to sob. It's all about image. Public versus private.

She would die, just die if Lee or Gaara caught her. She thinks she would. (She used to think) Or even worse, if Sasuke caught her. He who would denounce her weakness once and for all, expose her as a weak little girl, someone never strong enough to love him. Though now what Sasuke thinks no longer matters -- as much. She's painfully aware that he has already seen her cry many times already - Chuunin Exams. The damn seal. The breaking of trust when he left the village.

She always feels weak after a good cry, but better.

When Gaara cries, his tears are a warning. Read: Emotional Pain. Read: Giving into the temptation to not give a shit about controlling his demonic other-soul. His tears prick the corners of his eyes like sand. And if they are fatter and flow more freely, they are deadly. Deadlier than the small desert snakes that can kill Shinobi in one bite.

He used to feel drained, afterwards.

Lee and Sakura have never seen Gaara ever cry.

They fear the thought. One day it will happen, though, and they'll be there for him. One hand ready to offer support and empathy, another hand to stand, unwavering, dedicated.
