Title:Itching Palm
Author:TinaMustDie
Itching Palm, a term for greed or avarice.
Harry Potter is living on borrowed luck. Borrowed tools (blazing fire birds and singing hats), borrowed intelligence (because everybody knows something), borrowed lives (and they just keep throwing them away). Yes, Harry Potter fancies himself quite the leech (they love him so much and he just sucks them dry). He just keeps taking and taking, and wonders when his debt will catch up with him.
Draco Malfoy lives with a burden. He must be perfect (but he's just so angry), he has a role to fill (one he'll never be cold enough for), he's always being judged (and always coming up short). Draco Malfoy knows what he faces is too big for him (and he hates himself for it). He was born a failure, and wonders when it will finally become too much.
Ronald Weasley lives with a hunger. He wants so badly to be noticed (he doesn't need a cloak to be invisible), to do something his sibling haven't (because that shadow is suffocating), to be someone extraordinary (the sky would never be a satisfying limit). He is green with envy (and it's really not his color). His jealousy is eating him from the inside out, and he wonders what will happen when there's nothing left.
Hermione Granger is living on spite alone. Her blood is not a hindrance (she has so much to prove to the rich and ignorant), she will not fail (you can do better, so much better), she'll be the best (she'll show them all). She's earned her pride (worked so damn hard). She's letting nothing stand in her way, and wonders if this victory will cost her everything.
They watch each other and wonder when they all became so bitter (you'll never be good enough).
