Alright, to get this out of the way...I do not own '24.' I do not own Jack Bauer (though I wish I did...) and I don't own his crazy daddy (but that's a good thing!) so please don't sue
me. Futhermore, I do not own the song "No Son of Mine" and I was never in Genesis. So the song credit goes to Phil and the gang. This is my first fic of any type, so please read and tell me what you think is good/bad/whatever. I'll give you a cookie!

He remembered the disappointment in his father's eyes when he told him he was leaving. The anger in his voice when his father questioned him as to why. The shock. No one ever spoke to Phillip Bauer like that. The argument that ensued that ended with the declaration "No son of mine is going to speak to me like that."

The slamming of the door, passing of years.

You're no son, you're no son of mine.

They say that time is a healer.

He remembered the rain that day, so many years later. Indentions in wet earth from his only pair of good shoes. Watching as the coffin was lowered into the ground and feeling numb, helpless. The family was divided. Her kin on one side of the plot, and his on the other. He noticed that her side was thicker than his, and hated that Kim had no family to take comfort in other than him. Their faces, bitter and anguished just as his was. Looking around after the service and seeing friends, colleagues, but no family of his own. Maybe they didn't know. The words in the back of his mind still echoing loudly as he picked up the phone to call him.

You're no son of mine.

He could still feel the punch to the gut as his father explained his absence. Work, he had said. He'd make it up to Kim. A month later, and awkward reunion with Phillip and Graem. Forced smiles and greetings for her sake, but a moment alone confirming that nothing had changed between the two men. Frigid stares, blame for Teri's death. The same disappointed look from his father's eyes as Graem escorted him out the door and smirked smugly at his brother as Phillip reminded him yet again,

You're no son, you're no son of mine.

You walked out, you left us behind.

Now he stands, staring his father down as the old man lay dying on the cold, metal platform. The man with the blood of so many on his hands, including that of his own flesh and blood. Rage builds up in his son's chest, wanting nothing more than to seek revenge on his father for it all but knowing he can't. He sees the same look in his father's eyes, the look of sheer disappointment and despair. Only this time, his father is met with the look of betrayal, deception and hatred.

Jack Bauer sneers as he looks at his father once more before he leaves him for the final time.

"I'm no son of yours."
