Leonardo died today.
Yesterday held his victories
Today saw none
He was not overwhelmed by many
It took only one man
One blade
One mistake
If his brothers had only been there
He might still be alive
He might not have died alone
I felt him go
I heard him whisper goodbye
His brothers would never hear the word
His eyes stared skywards
Then grew dark as life left them
His spirit drifted away
I felt his body grow cold
Blood flowed,
Then ceased
His skin went pale
His muscles tensed
Then relaxed one final time
His voice was silenced
His hands were calmed
His heart was stilled
The sky lifted him
The earth fell away
So far away
I saw the day leave
The night descend
His last breath
I watched from above
I leave it behind me
All that I ever was
I used to be Leonardo
But Leonardo died today.
