'It's a dreary planet,' Rex thought to himself as he stepped out of his tent, his helmet tucked under an arm. He started to make his way to the mess tent. In two hours, he and a squad of men were leaving on a recon mission over a hundred clicks south of their current location. If they could find proof that the governor was selling weapons to the Seppies, they could go in and put an end to it.

"Rex! Wait up!"

Rex slowed to a stop, and a second later, Ahsoka was at his side, smiling and boasting about beating her master in a spar match. Rex subconsciously looked her over for injuries. The kid had just returned from a solo mission the night before, tired, bruised and covered in mud. He noted that any minor wounds had been taken care of, and she seemed to be healthy. By now she was beaming with pride and accomplishment as she smiled up at him. Rex felt a smile tug at his lips; she could almost always get him to smile.

For years, it was mostly out of annoyance, and sometimes humor, but recently, it had been out of true enjoyment, and a little of what Rex decided to call a very close, respectful friendship, because that was the only name it could ever have.

Suddenly, the campsite was gone, the sky above him, and the ground below him, vanished. Looking down at himself, he saw that his armor was gone, and he was only in his body suit. He looked to his side, only to find Ahsoka fallen to the ground, covered in bruises and mud, and was that… a lightsaber wound? His instincts kicked in, and he knelt beside her to check for a pulse. It was there, and though consistent, was very weak. But when he moved to pick her up, she was moving away from him, almost like she was being dragged, but there was nothing pulling her. She reached out to Rex, begging him to help her, crying out in pain and fear, her face twisted with terror. Rex yelled out to her, ran as fast as he could, but it was as if he wasn't moving at all. In moments, she had disappeared, but he could still hear the sound of her struggling, and crying out for him to come help her. And there was nothing he could do.

Rex woke up silently. He was no stranger to nightmares, but it ripped at his heart, to see his Comma- Ahsoka, hurt, weak, and helpless, when she was really anything but. He took a few steadying breaths, then turned to face the woman laying beside him.

Ahsoka was still asleep; thankfully his nightmare hadn't woken her. She needed her rest, as she, Ezra and Kanan were leaving in a few hours. Some kind of Jedi mission, to search for an ancient relic, she had told him. He hadn't been too worried, no more then usual anyway, but now he felt that maybe he should go as well…

But it was late, and he was probably just being paranoid. He pushed the thoughts out of his head, at least until morning came. Pulling their blanket up to his chest, he placed an arm over Ahsoka, and dreamed of her smiling, on a planet far away, and what felt to be a life time ago.
