The boy from District One did gloat

'til he got an arrow through his throat.

The girl, she dreamt of diamond rings

but found tracker jacker stings.

From District Two a boy did rise

To be slain by wolves with tribute eyes.

With her name of exotic spice

Through her head a rock did slice.

The boy from three, he worked machines

He did it wrong, he died a teen.

The girl, she died on the first day

A silver arrow sent death her way.

The fourth boy was always set apart

A sword through the neck and a broken heart.

His partner followed the Careers

Hornets brought on her death tears.

The boy from Five grabbed a backpack

But his neck was broken with a crack.

The fox through brush and forest slips

Black berry juice stains her lips.

The boy from Six ran at the start

And got a spear straight through his heart

The girl, she knew that she was dead

As the water closed above her head.

The boy from Seven lost his pack

And his life was ended with an axe.

The girl just prayed for a bit more time

For she died, lovely, in her prime.

The eighth boy, his time quickly ticked

And he coughed dark blood when he was kicked.

The girl lit a fire with frozen fingers

In the chilly air, her scream still lingers.

The boy from Nine thought not to die

And spat up blood, to his surprise.

The girl sank in to Death's embrace

She ran, she fought, she lost a race.

The boy from Ten, with his crippled foot

The fire bathed him with dark soot.

The girl, she fought the strongest boy

She missed his hidden fatal ploy.

In grassy fields, treasure was stored

By the eleventh boy who was slain by a sword.

And silver tears fell in showers

For a girl who slept in a bed of flowers.

From District Twelve they both lived on

Hand in hand, to see the dawn.

They both fought strong through all things dire

And drew all eyes to the girl on fire.
