A/N: Since I'm very much into both Hamilton and OQ, I thought it would be fun to write a series of OQ one-shots incorporating Hamilton quotes. We'll see where it goes :)

Enjoy!

And you would smile and that would be enough

"Ow!" She placed her hand over the side of her stomach where a sharp pain was already starting to falter again. She looked to her right and saw the person responsible, his guilty dimples clearly showing. "I'm very sorry, milady, I wasn't looking where I was going." She rolled her eyes at him, already averting her gaze back to the buffet in front of her. He gently placed his hand on her arm, "Did I hurt you?" he asked. Shrugging her shoulders, she replied, "No, I'm fine. You've just been awfully clumsy today."

It was true. He hadn't been the handiest version of himself. Since breakfast, she'd seen him fall twice and trip some more. He'd been extremely amusing with Roland today, entertaining him by telling jokes and making funny faces, always making sure that she was there to see it. He'd dropped his soup during lunch, dirtying all of his clothes. Awfully clumsy indeed.

And now here he was, at the dinner buffet, poking her side, by accident. He nodded, throwing another chicken leg on his plate. "It seems so," he said, skipping the line and diving in front of her, stealing two pieces of bread before making his way to the table where his Merry Men were already seated. She sighed, mumbling something inaudible to herself and thinking that he must have a very strong finger since he's able to hurt her through her tight corset.

I wonder what else that finger could do.

She internally slapped her hand, telling herself to back off. She had been thinking about that damned thief a little too much lately. That's why she'd been avoiding him, why she may have acted a bit grumpy and irritated in his presence. Maybe he'd noticed and he just wanted to get her attention by doing strange things? I guess I'll never know.

.-.-.-.

Dinner went on smoothly without any accidents. Yet.

Regina got up from her spot at the Charmings' table, putting on her cloak to return to her chambers to rest. She looked around the room for a last sight of Robin but he appeared to have gone. But Roland's still here? She shook it off and went on. Opening the door to the hallway before closing it again, she wanted to make her way out of the cold corridor, but–

"Boo!"

The queen's piercing scream could be heard throughout the hallway, but she was soon shut up by a chilly hand covering her mouth, another one grabbing her waist. Shocked brown eyes looked up and were met with equally frightened blue ones.

"Shhhhh, it's okay, milady. It's only me."

She grabbed his hand and removed it from her mouth, "What the hell, Robin? Why did you do that?"

He breathed heavily, shaking his head while tightening his grasp on her waist, uttering all kinds of apologies. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. Not like that anyway."

"Why have you been acting so weird today? It's like you picked one day to fit in a whole year worth of clumsiness," she said fiercely.

"No, it's not like that... Never mind, I'll let you get on with whatever you were going to do," he said while releasing her from his grasp.

"No Robin, you will tell me what's going on right now! You trip all day, you fall without there being even an occasion for it, you're incredibly clumsy… I don't know what's wrong with you, but just give me an explanation. Please."

Their gazes were fixed on each other, both still breathing heavily from the initial shock. He sighed, raking his hand through his hand, mumbling just above a whisper, "I just wanted to make you smile."

She frowned, "You… What?"

He took a step closer. "You've been so grumpy these past few weeks and I didn't know why. I hope it wasn't because of something I said or did, because I would–", he swallowed, "I was hoping to cheer you up. First by just making witty remarks; after that by doing stupid things such as falling right onto my face or something like that. I was, I am worried about you, and I know you miss your son, and there's nothing I can do to bring him back, but I needed to try something to get that ever-sullen expression of your face. So I thought of a plan; a final resort: I would embarrass myself. And you would smile and that would be enough."

He hadn't noticed that he'd lowered his gaze to the tiled floor, so he brought his eyes up again to face hers, saying, "For now, at least."

Their eyes met briefly, but the only thing Robin could focus on in that moment was the beautiful curling up of her mouth into a sincere and radiant smile. A smile of his own appeared when he realised that, finally, he had accomplished a task long-abandoned.
