Gilbert sighed as he entered the house. Of course nobody was home except Vash and Lily who were sitting in Vash's room with door open as they assembled toy guns. Gilbert rolled his eyes and entered the room, knocking gently on the door. They looked up, Vash with a cold stare. and Lily with her pleasant smile, hand folded in her lap.

"Do one you guys want to go play in the woods? I foun-"

"No. Leave us alone," Vash cut him off, glaring at the older brother. "We're minding our own business. You should do the same."

Gilbert grumbled as the door was slammed in his face. What a douche. Gilbert would never understand Vash's obsession with locking himself in his room. It wasn't healthy. He heard a cry from the baby's room. He rolled his eyes. Of course nobody would think about Ludwig. Their parents were away and had left the oldest two boys in charge. He had no idea where the twins were. It bothered him they'd just run off.

He slipped into the room and walked over to Ludwig's crib. The child immediately fell silent at the sound of the door opening. Spoiled brat. Gil thought to himself. Ludwig smiled at Gilbert and bounced gently, cooing as the thirteen year old approached. Gil smiled and leaned on the rail of the crib. Ludwig held his arms up to his older brother, his bouncing and cooing increasing. Gilbert rolled his eyes despite the warm feeling the one year old was causing him to feel. The child always did this when he was around. It made the others jealous. How could they not?

The boy picked up the infant and smiled. He was cute...maybe. He figured he'd grown up to just ignore him like the others did. That was okay. He had fun on his own and he did have friends. Not that this baby really knew anything about that. He put the boy on the floor and went to the toy chest. He was bored. Might as well entertain himself and his baby brother.

"Okay, Luddy, we're going to have so much fun with blocks. Do you like blocks?" Gil said as he dug through the toy chest.

He turned around and was shocked to see Ludwig standing with his little tongue poking out of the side of his face. Sure, Ludwig had been pulling himself up and standing for the past few months now, but he looked so set on something, determined. Gilbert put down the blocks and crossed his arms, a smirk on his face.

"So what are you up to, kid?"

"Gi!" Ludwig squealed before taking a few steps and falling to the ground with muffled thump of his diaper.

"No way…" Gilbert breathe before clapping and hugging the boy. "Good job, kid!"

He ran to door calling for Vash and Lilly. Vash opened the door and glared. Lilly peaked out behind him.

"What is it?" Vash snapped.

"Ludwig! He just, he just walked!" Gilbert giggled.

"He's an infant. Vatti said so," Vash muttered before walking back into his room pulling three year old Lily behind him. Gilbert sighed. Vash the grumpiest six year old he'd ever met.

He walked back inside to see Ludwig standing again, a huge smile on his face. He pointed and Gilbert and squealed, "Gi!" again to Gilbert's surprise. Was he trying to say Gilbert? The boy didn't know but he realized this was his chance to shine. Ludwig could be his minion. He'd missed the chance with his other younger siblings and the twins had really never cared about him. Everyone paired off and ignored him. He was too loud, too rambunctious. Abel and Emma liked to garden and wouldn't allow Gilbert to help since he always started a dirt fight. Vash kept to himself and insisted on Lilly staying with him at all times. All he and Roderich ever did was argue. And the twins, Axel and Kai, well they just didn't have time for an annoying little brother. Well Gilbert was tired of it. He'd play with Ludwig until the boy was tired of him.

"Come here, Luddy! Come to Gilbert!" Gil cooed kneeling down.

It was always the same. Ludwig would squeal Gil's name before taking a few steps and falling. He alway got back up and tried to get to his brother. Finally he did it! Gil picked him up and swirled him in a circle.

"You did it, Lud! Vatti and Mutti are going to be so proud of you!" Gil smiled and Ludwig giggled, clapping, his blue eyes shining bright. The kid was growing on him. That was for sure.

I hope you enjoyed this. There will be more soon! :)
