Author's Note: So I thought I hadn't written for my card Cliodna but it turns out that I already have so I'm just going to post this as a oneshot. Hope y'all like it! I also feel really bad that we always assume Ginny got no say in the name choice.

Assignment: DADA assignment 3 - Write about the happiest day of someone's life/memory

Tiny

Tiny. That was the first though that crossed Ginny's mind as the squalling infant was placed in her arms. A thick mop of red hair graced her son's head and she smiled, such a perfect mixture of both his father and his mother.

She was exhausted, her arms trembled, sweat dripped from every available pore and her body ached furiously but as she looked down at her son, who was starting to cry less as his brand new eyes grew accustomed to the strange new light of the world, she couldn't help but be utterly content.

Ginny managed to tear her eyes away from this little human she had created as Harry placed a hand on her shoulder. His own eyes were glued to the child, she could see the tears of joy pooling in the corners behind his glasses.

"Do you want to hold him?" she whispered although she didn't know why. Perhaps to protect the little one's ears from harsh noises.

The look on Harry's face was comical as he snapped his head up to look at her. Panic creased every line of his face and his eyes were wide and filled with horror but Ginny could see the tentative hope lurking behind all the uncertainty.

She smiled warmly at him, and shifted so she could lift the baby up. Her arms were so tired, every muscle in her body was so tired, but some instinct told her she wouldn't let him fall. Harry hesitated for a second, eyes flashing between Ginny and the baby, settling briefly on Molly who hovered excitedly in the doorway, before swaying forward.

Slowly and carefully he gathered his boy into his arms letting Ginny arrange them so his head was properly supported before standing up and gazing down in utter wonder. Ginny watched her boys fondly, Harry was like a statue at first, rigid in terror but slowly he relaxed rocking gently.

"James," she murmured. Harry hummed, indicating he hadn't heard her as the baby reached out to him. He pushed his nose towards the bundle allowing his son to grasp the tip in his tiny hands.

"Harry, I want to call him James."

"Oh, Ginny. Do you really?" Harry looked up and the hope she had seen lurking before hit her full force from those beautiful green eyes. "Please don't just for my sake, there are loads of other names and I want you to have fair choice-"

"Harry, I like the name James," she insisted stemming his flow of nervous babble with a tired hand. "It is a fitting tribute I think."

"James… Sirius?" he hedged offering a cheeky smile causing Ginny to chuckle tiredly.

"Don't push it," she teased, "he's going to have enough trickster blood without a legacy to live up too."

They were interrupted by a tiny yawn which drew their attention back to the bundle in Harry's arms. Little arms stretched up as James screwed up his tiny, pink face. His first half an hour in the real world had obviously been very tiring and the happy parents watched as he drifted off.

Harry carefully passed James back to Ginny, and dropped a kiss on her forehead as she snuggled the baby close to her chest. "I'll go tell everyone," he whispered sending a last, loving glance at his new family.

Ginny couldn't remember ever feeling so happy.
