I needed to tell someone else about my life line. I thought maybe Annabeth would be the person to tell. She was smart, and would know exactly what to do. Being a daughter of Athena, she would be able to come up with some fireproof jacket or something.

I thought about it for a minute, but what if she found out, and thought I was weak? Does it matter anyway? We're friends, or at least her boyfriend is my friend, so she won't think that.

This argument went through my head the entire way to her room. I mean what if she betrayed my trust? No, Annabeth wouldn't do that. Percy would make sure of that. Besides, the way he talked about her, she sounded pretty loyal.

I opened the door to her room, right then Annabeth was on her computer doing who knows what. Her fingers were tapping on the keyboard , and her eyes were focused on the screen. I walked in and she looked up.

"Oh, hey Frank, um what do you need?" She asked. She sounded kind of confused, then I realized she probably thought that I was Percy when I tried to come in.

"Oh I just..." I started. I seemed to reconsider telling her "Um, I hate being in the dark about these." I said fast holding up the Chinese trap.

"Oh, its simple really, look at this." She pulled out a diagram on her computer of the trap. "See, you put your fingers in, not try to get out."

I felt stupid now. "Oh, that is simple." I tried it and it worked.

"Don't worry about Leo by the way, humor is just his way. He didn't mean to come across rude, he just needed to laugh." Annabeth surprised him.

"Why, he seems so happy?" I asked.

"There I a lot we don't know about each other, all I know is he has a bad past. Then again, demigods usually do." Annabeth tried to explain.

"Yep, nothing more truer." I said while thinking of my own memories.

"It's more true." Annabeth corrected. "Saying more truer is bad grammar, plus it sounds wrong."

"Sorry, um why did you need the diagram, just curious?" I asked.

She blushed. "I didn't, just an Athena thing."

I began to walk out and she went back to her computer. I froze at the door. 'Now or never Frank.' I thought. 'I have to do this.'

"Um you see I have this Achilles heel." I started.

She froze. "Um, and who else knows about this?"

"Percy and Hazel." I answered.

"Ok, tell me more about why you got it." She asked me.

"I didn't want it, it's a pain to deal with." I said.

"But, it helps you right?" She asked.

"No, it almost got me killed once." I murmured.

"Ok, I don't think we're on the same page. Do you have the Achilles curse?" She asked. looking straight into my eyes.

"NO! I um have something much worse." I mumbled.

"Ok, so what is it?" She asked.

I looked around, still wondering if this was the right thing to do. "When I was a baby, I was in my mothers arms by the fire-place. My grandma sat next to her. All of a sudden a women, who I was told was Juno, Hera to you, showed up. She told my grandma and mother that I was too powerful. The Fates had attached my life to one of the sticks in the fire." I started to explain.

Annabeth gasped. "She told my family that I was needed later on, then left. My grandma got up and grabbed the wood before it burned. It was in my attic for years. When my mom died, my grandma sent me off to camp with it."

"Oh?" Annabeth mouthed.

"One time I set it on fire and it was painful. Over a month later I met both Hazel and Percy. We then went on the quest. I was told I would die with the stick burning in my hands. Later, I asked Hazel to take care of it."

"And now she carries it everywhere?" She asked.

"Yep, but it gets worse. I order to free death I had to light the wood to break the chains that held him. By the time he was free, I only had a stump left." I finished.

"Ok, what do you need me to do?" Annabeth asked.

"I need a solution. What should I do?" I asked.

"I think it's in capable hands. If she gets hurt I'll make sure to take it, and carry it till she's better." She promised.

"You would do that?" I asked.

"Of course, we're friends right?" She laughed.

"Right, thanks so much." I thanked her and was about to leave.

"Hey, Frank!" I turned around.

"Yea?"

"Don't be afraid to talk to me, we are friends."

We both smiled.
