Well, hello there! This story randomly popped into my head as I was making my Pokémon FireRed Walkthrough…. It's a bit strange and non-Pokémon like, but that's exactly why I've written it!
Enjoy!

His body lay motionless in the puffy cloud of snow that heavily littered the ground. It was when his grip on the round red-and-white ball was lost that they all knew he was forever lost. The little electric mouse kept shouting to bring him back, for him to return, for him to spring up and carry the little mouse back home. But somewhere in its head, the mouse knew that would never happen. Never again.
"Pikachu," a girl said. She walked up to Pikachu and picked him up. The mouse kicked and screamed and tried to wiggle from her grip. The girl held him strong despite. "Pikachu, he's gone." She choked back her tears and shouted, "He's gone, dammit! Long gone!"
His dark brown eyes were staring straight at her, unmoving. Right leg almost completely disconnected from his pelvis, a majority of the red originated from there. The girl fell to her knees and cried into the soft fur of Pikachu's head. The mouse turned itself around and cried into her chest and let his ears drop.
A few stray Pokémon – namely Swablu and Altaria – gathered around the boy's body and began to sing. The girl jerked her head up at the sound of the song. How could they possibly know this very song? He only… he only ever sang it to me! she thought. But she sang the words along with the tune:
Through the night, through our lives
The only thing I can see
Is the falling red of snow
Between the flakes, I can see
Myself lying in the blankets
You are beside me, holding me close
You'd never let me be alone
Not even in my final moments
My darling, can you see me?
The falling red cover me through and through
Outside and in, I cannot be loved
By anybody but you
After this, she could sing no more. It brought too much pain. She held Pikachu close and ran off towards town. I know he's gone. But why should that mean that he doesn't get a proper burial? she thought.
The falling red followed her until the end.
She and Pikachu never made it back to town.
