Hermione Granger will be the death of him.

The way she always raises her hand in class, the fact that she's almost always right, and even on the rare occasions she's wrong, she just has this look on her face that's terribly arrogant and taunting, as if she's saying 'I know something you don't know' to the whole class, including the professors.

She walks with her back hunched over like she's trying to avoid attention, and her expression is always guarded. The only time she lets her guard down is in the library, when she's sitting in the corner and reading a book.

That's actually where Tom is now, the library. Sitting a few meters away and watching her. There's something about her that seems suspicious and he must make sure she's not a threat. He's tried talking to her, tried working his apparent charm to get her to talk, but he doesn't seem to have the same affect on her as he does everyone else, so he's resorted to spying on her, and she still hasn't given up anything of importance. It's infuriating.

He can't seem to help noticing the way her eyes twinkle as she scans the page of her book quickly. The corners of her mouth quirk up and she bites her lip to stifle a laugh. Her hair is atrocious as always, framing her face in wild brown curls. It's getting late, the library is about to close and they're the last ones left when she finally gets up, stretches, and walks the book back to its shelf.

He sees her yawn, watches as she rolls her shoulders before exiting, and sighs.

Hermione Granger will be the death of him.

I'm in a constant love affair with stories where the first sentence is the same as the last.
