I look down at my bloodied hands and don't move. Her dead eyes look out to me with unspoken love and as she breathes her last, I turn to ash in the light of the sun.
Chapter One
"Edward!" Mika called and I turned around and smiled. Mika was running towards me, her purple hair tucked behind her ears. I squinted; I hated all those goddamned earrings she just absolutely had to get. I caught her in my arms and held her close; her jeans were covered in glitter. Her army boots were hidden behind dried mud, and her purple tank smelled strongly of her scent. I could hardly restrain myself from just sinking my fangs into her neck then and there, but I did it. I let her go and we walked hand-in-hand to the Luggage Pick-Up. It was nearly an hour and a half later before we were putting her things in my black and white mini cooper.
"Why do you drive this thing Ed? It looks like something my grandmother would drive?" Mika complained sliding into the passenger seat. Her smell floated on the breeze and hit me square in the face causing me to recoil and my fangs to pierce my lip. I gritted my teeth hard, wiping my polluted tasting blood out of my mouth and getting into the car. Mika looked at me concernedly but I merely smiled and laughed.
"I drive this thing because it's expensive. Now, I have a surprise for you so I want you to be nice and patient for me. It'll be a few hours before we get to the place but trust me it'll be worth the drive. I said starting the engine and backing out of the parking space but having to quickly slam on my brakes as a girl with long blonde braided hair snuck into our spot and hitting the cooper. I got out of the car and she had too, I surveyed the damage. She had taken some of the cooper's black paint and had broken the left headlight. I turned on her.
"I don't know who's going to pay for that but it sure and the blue hell ain't gonna be me." I growled, trying to hold in my fangs. Her smell wafted over to me and I nearly retched. Lychen, I said in my head and hissed at her, no regard to hiding my fangs now. She growled back.
"You know the laws Lychen," I said snarling at her. "You come into our territory, and you get to be escorted out in a body bag." I stepped towards her and she stepped towards me.
"Last time I checked the airport was a neutral zone Blood-Sucker." She said trying to control her anger that way she didn't change in public. Every one knows how emotional Lychens are, that's the only reason they started to change into their true forms in the light. The first light-Lychen was a pregnant Lychen whose mate wouldn't do what she wanted; she got mad, turned and ripped out his throat. I laughed at the thought. The Lychen girl didn't like that.
"Look, I'm just trying to get to New York, just take your stupid mortal girl and get out of my way." She said brushing past me and walking calmly to the elevators. I snarled one more time at her and then did some power breathing to make my fangs go back. I got into the car and Mika stared at me.
"What was that all about? It looked like you were about to rip her head off." Mika asked but I shrugged it off and turned on the CD player, disturbed started playing full blast and I sang the lyrics as loud as I could until my anger calmed.
"Let's just go baby." Mika said and I drove at least 90 all the way to the new house.
