Paopu Destinies.

Pulling the star-shaped fruit out of my pocket, I blushed squeezing it to my chest. This was no ordinary lemon-colored fruit. For they say that if you share this with another person, your destinies will be forever intertwined. Both futures inseparable, conjoined, for the rest of both individual's times. Carefully tucking it back into my pocket, I began to make my way towards the crooked paopu tree which bent horizontally and stretched up to the sky at the end. The sun was starting to touch the horizon, causing the sky to turn a breathtaking warm colored-rainbow. As I approached the tree, I noticed Riku sitting upon it leaning on the fat trunk watching the sun end its shift for the day.

Casually, I hopped up on the tree staring at the sun glimmering over the vast ocean. Unaware that I arrived, Riku turned and greeted me with a, "hey Sora," then returned back to the view of the endless sky. Slowly, I pulled the paopu out of my pocket and held it in my hands, debating on if I should share it with Riku. I felt my face get hot, and twiddled my feet because I was so nervous. With a sudden boost of confidence, I sprung off of the bench like tree and held the mystical fruit out towards Riku with both arms ducking my head only to mask a fraction of the embarrassment.

"Will you please share this with me!?!" I asked without realizing how loud I shouted it.

I shut my eyes tight and my face grew even hotter, utterly steaming red. Now I've done it. I thought that Riku would never talk to me again because of what I did. All of the sudden I felt the fruit lift away from my hands. Peeking through one eye, I saw Riku holding it and chuckling.

"You wanted to share this with me huh Sora?" he taunted.

I nodded my head slowly, pausing without a sound. Riku snickered. Even more embarrassed than before, with my hands one cupped over the other over my mouth, I hung my head low trying to cover the redness increasing in my face. Then I heard a crisp crack, like an apple being ripped in two. I looked up in surprise to see that Riku held half of the yellow fruit out to me while munching the other half.

"Dig in!" Riku mumbled with his mouth full.

With both hands I ate the juicy fruit. It tasted like heaven on earth in only a matter of minutes, and before I knew it we were both finished. Riku smiled softly.

"Now and forever I'll always be right there," he said pointing to my chest. "You'll always be with me too Sora, forever in my heart, as I'm within yours." Riku added resting his palm on his heart.

Teary eyed, Riku and I embraced, and as the sunset reached its peak of beauty Riku and I watched it holding one another in each other's arms.
